What right has any human being got to impose this on any child?
Let me firstly say, this is no way a political post, but "Self Righteous" people that feel that they can possibly gain anything from putting a minor at risk, should take a step back and examine there conscience!

"A primary school in Antrim was evacuated today after an eight-year-old pupil found a viable pipe-bomb in the playground.
The alert was raised St Comgall's primary school on the Ballymena Road after Brendan Shannon picked up the device in the playground and carried it into a classroom, where he handed it to a teacher"

i will be suprised if anyone disagree's with that comment.
...and anyone that supports a political faction that considers this an acceptable method of making a point ought also to be ashamed |

The people on BOTH sides of the community have worked hard and made very difficult choices to change the situation in the province.
Surely the reason for doing so is that the next generation of children will have a brighter future and won't live through the violence of the past.
Whoever did this is beyond contempt.

You don't say whether it was an active bomb or a dummy. It makes a difference as to the intent of the person who planted it. If it was a dummy, then it's purpose was to cause chaos and fear. If it was a live bomb then someone should catch them and de-scrote the evil fuckers. |

i'm not sure how you justify terrifying a school of children?
the fight is not theirs...they're not even old enough to vote, so why should the fight be taken to their door? |

Unfortunately this kind of thing is common place in many country's round the world and its just another incident. Its terrible that anyone would leave anything near a school and hard to work out why people do it. |

You don't justify. It's an awful thing to do. I was simply asking for more info than 'catholic school in Ireland'. |

It looks like it was left not planted. No clarity if it was left on purpose or dropped while someone was running away.

perhaps it was the wording and the inferrence that the intent made a difference. it's despicable regardless of motive...if it was a dummy, that at least is fortunate for all those involved, but makes the twat that planted it no less of a twat |

Isn't responsibility usually claimed for the planting of bombs? Why plant one if nobody knows it was abc terrorists or xyz sect?
A pipe bomb is designed to explode as soon as it's moved isn't it? That negates someone 'dropping' a live bomb by accident as it would have exploded. So it's either a dummy, or a dud (badly constructed live bomb). Doesn't sound like something the eastablished paramilitaries would do as they a) know that the backlash from such an act would damage their cause, and b) they know how to construct these things properly.
I may be wrong but it seems there's little to this than meets the eye (as opposed to more than this).
Still a shitty thing to do though. |

Agree wishyNsiren there's less to this than meets the eye - and it stinks of the kinda amatuer half crazed carry on that is only Terrorism cause it happens in a former hot bed of terrorism - I believe there were "intelligent" terrorists active during the troubles(not agreeing with any cause before I'm lynched) who, claimed responsibility and gave ample warning for evacuations etc. but now its just lunatics, drug dealers and petty criminals justifying their evil doing with a "cause"
Burn em I say - anyone who threatens the innocence of childhood, physically or otherwise deserves to face their maker. |
