There's a huge army base just half hour away from where I live so one would assume there would be a lot of armed forces personel for me to choose from but nooo, I don't find any! Maybe it's because the people there are Special forces, marines, paras, even SAS so they might not advertise who they are if they are on here!

Nope, he was wearing uniform that is no longer worn with todays uniform, he had a beard, was smoking with a beret on, an his insignia wasnt correct. An at the time I was still serving an held rank so wasn't just a member of the public as you put it. As the OP states its extremely disrespectful to serving personnel and also a criminal offence  |

Just ask to see their Military ID card; these are accountable docments, have a time limited validity, and must be surrendered on leaving the Service.
Loss of an ID card is a military offence (~£400 fine, depending on Rank) and a temporary paper docment will be issued until a replacement plastic card has been manfactured; so don't fall for the excuse of 'having lost it'

Of course some forces guys are not nice, as with everyone. But for me personally, it's a good indicator with a high success rate that I will click with someone.

If you have a quick read of my profile you'll see I'm not looking for just a fuck.
I'd never really given armed forces people much thought, I've always had a healthy respect for them but it wasn't until last year when I had my first encounter with one that it sparked my romantic interest in them!
I dated a para for 5 months and I just really enjoyed being in his company, genuinely interested in listening to the last 15 years worth of his experiences, seeing him in uniform on rare occasions when he came straight to me before dropping his washing at his mums! I liked looking at all his pictures and medals and awards he'd had, liked reading his promotional reports and just enhancing my knowledge of our armed forces. I liked his mannerisms, how whenever we went to a restaurant or cage he's subconsciously pick his seat so his back was against the wall and he could see all entrances and exits! I liked how he made me feel in his presence it sounds corny but I felt safe! I assume ALL the elite members of the armed forces the paratroopers and marines etc would have the same mannerisms and have interesting things to talk about.

Yeah I understand all that, my friends boyfriend has done a couple of tours now whilst they've been together and seen how hard it was for her whilst he was away, but the the plus side is the pride, he was amongst the last ones out of afghan in November so that was a part of history, (providing they don't have to go back there) At my age though and the age of the people I'm looking for I'll hopefully catch one who has been in from age 16 and is coming to the end of his 22 years so wouldn't have many tours left in him!

Yeah I understand all that, my friends boyfriend has done a couple of tours now whilst they've been together and seen how hard it was for her whilst he was away, but the the plus side is the pride, he was amongst the last ones out of afghan in November so that was a part of history, (providing they don't have to go back there) At my age though and the age of the people I'm looking for I'll hopefully catch one who has been in from age 16 and is coming to the end of his 22 years so wouldn't have many tours left in him!

I thought that! He wasn't immature at all neither did he have a short fuse, he was quite calm and placid, he was very self assured though but I suppose 15 years of having it drummed into you that paras are the "elite" they've got to believe they're the best otherwise they won't have the confidence to do what they do. He did say p company was a tough thing to do but after watching videos on it myself I'd have to agree! |

Builders.
Plumbers.
Pilots.
Doctors.
Dentists.
Teachers.
Mechanics.
Chefs.
Nurses.
ICT specialists.
Linguists.
Carpenters.
Farriers.
Blacksmiths.
Fitness Instructors.
Drivers.
Computer Programmers.
Divers.
Firefighters.
Olympians.
They can be BSc MSc PhD. They are prepared to give their all.
Some also engage in fighting.
Tarring them all with the same brush is ludicrous.
The media doesn't help. If a soldier does something wrong, they will always be referred to as a soldier, not which specialism they hold.

Oooooh this was a sore subject cos I'd told him about the marine I slept with a few times in 2011 and that I still spoke to! He said he'd done the commando course and obviously p company in the beginning but always maintained that p company was tougher!
I think marines seem nicer, that para guy I knew was a prick, the marine I only slept with a couple of times in 2011 a couple of times but still had a merry christmas whatsapp off him 3 years on!
Also the marine when he was based in st Athan he praised the paras and said they were good lads but the para guy always said they were better. I believe when you have to tell people you're better you're actually not! The marine was more humble then and didn't have to say anything about his toughness! |

my ex husband was a marine. Kept his mouth shut. Didn't make anything a big deal. He was cool, calm and collected and had a presence about him. That's what's attractive about forces guys. Their demeanor. Nothing to do with their job title. however I do believe that their job shapes them massively.
And I must admit, most army guys I've met tend to be massive d*unks. |

I'm not a "tag chaser" I'm only talking about marines and paras because they are the only two encounters I've had with armed forces people. The marine I met off here in 2011 and wasn't till I'd met him a couple of times that I knew what he did. I didn't meet him for his job I met him because he was 6 foot, gorgeous, dark hair, bushy eyebrows and had a big dick. The para I met on a night out and exchanged numbers with him, I didn't know what he did until I'd met him a few more times.
I liked the way he was, I liked listening to him, I'd like to meet another one like him. How fucking dare you cast assumptions as to whether I'm marriage material or not, and I find it offensive for you to say to me that I'd only be worth a shag to somebody. |
