Hereabouts

Got my results.

Anyone feel like explaining the big scary words to me?

Tear in my meniscus

My knee cap is tilted or twisted or something like that.

Surgery needed am I allowed to stop being a big girl, and cry now?

Didn't you ask the medical professionals?

You'll be fine, it's most likely keyhole surgery. Ask for a second opinion though as not all tears need surgery.

The tear in the meniscus is part of what I have/had along with the ruptured acl.

Are they going to shave the meniscus or repair it? X

I have no idea. I'm being referred to orthopaedics first. I just had a call from my physiotherapist. He said that most people can live with a tear in the meniscus but seeing as mine is still awful after 4 months then I need surgery to fix it, or whatever. I'll know more soon but still not a happy bunny

here and there, thereabouts

I had a nasty tear in mine- I had keyhole day surgery and it's been well behaved since. I had pysio before and after my op ( ouch!! I think they were sadists!!)

I know it's a frightening prospect surgery but it's a step on the road to recovery and regaining the health.at least you have answers now and are getting the help you need.

Hope your waiting time isn't too long for the op!

hugs!

Aww hope they sort you soon. Ig it's just shaving and trimming the meniscus it is keyhole surgery and you're in and out the same day.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I had it done several years ago.

The op is straightforward. Because it's keyhole surgery it's not bad at all. Mine was day surgery. I didn't have to stay in overnight. Because I'd had an anaesthetic I did have to have someone to collect me and be with me for the next 24hrs though. I wouldn't have been able to leave the hospital if I was going to be alone.

Recovery was quite quick and easy though it took ages to build back up to full strength in that leg.

Kneeling on that knee now hurts.

Do your physiotherapy religiously after the surgery. It's very important for recovery.
