I now have so many tech gadgets to boot up at the start of my working day. Invariably something fails at some point and we do a lot of effin n jeffin , fiddlin n faffin not to mention sweatin' then apologising.
If my comp fails at home.. it's a MAJOR priority to me. Far more than your life support machine! I need my INFO OVERLOAD!
When the checkout girl tries and fails on three bips and then has to key in a code which outstrips the Wall of China in length - I smile outwardly ...
Technology is fuckin' up my life !! It's taking away my hours!
What piece of tech do you love or hate?
What piece of manual equipment do you think will NEVER be taken over by robots? |

" .............
I like the sensation but not the sound of 300 bees makin' their way up me cludge!"
I apologise in advance for being off topic but I thought I'd share this.
The world expert on European wasps and the sounds that they make is taking a stroll down his local high street.
As he passes by the record shop, a sign catches his eye: “Just Released – New LP -Wasps of the World & the sounds that they make available now!”
Unable to resist the temptation, the man goes into the shop.
“I am the world expert on European wasps and the sounds that they make. I’d very much like to listen to the new LP you have advertised in the window.”
“Certainly, Sir,” says the young man behind the counter. “If you’d like to step into the booth and put on the headphones, I’ll put the LP on for you.”
The world expert on European wasps goes into the booth and puts on the earphones. Ten minutes later, he comes out of the booth and announces,
“I am the world expert on European wasps and the sounds that they make and yet I recognised none of those.”
“I really am terribly sorry”, says the young assistant………………….
“I’ve just realised I was playing you the bee side.” |

My old Grandma Rachel used a dolly tub and dolly to do the family washing well into her 80's. She had shoulders and arms like big 'enry.
She'd be up at 5 on wash days to boil the water ready to start.
She had a rythmn like a steam hammer. Come to think about it, no wonder Grandad George always had a smile on his face....bless 'em |

The art of cooking!
I am sure food can be replicated eventually as seen in the likes of Star Trek etc..., however, the joy of food preparation cannot be replaced IMHO! |

Having just got an iphone i'm longing for simplicity (or very small fingers).
I remember a time when my dad got his first mobile and when I passed my test if I went out in the car he'd give me it (for emergencies only). It was so big I had to move my seat back, hide it underneath then put the front seat back into position. God knows if there was ever an emergency it would take me 5 mins to retrieve the phone. And that was less than 20 years ago.
Tell you what though, despite all messaging emailing etc, you just can't beat a real life cuppa & a natter with the neighbour. |

We all hate our computers when they go wrong. However, they have made swinging a lot easier. When I 1st started with my ex it was called wife swapping back in the 80s. We had to buy a magazine look at the ads wonder if hey were real or not. Then send off 2 Polaroids (no digitals then) 1 of the face ad one nude. Then put in a covering letter and include a SAE, then all your replies where put in large A4 envelope with about £10 to be forwarded. Then if you were luck you got a phone call about 2 months later so you could range a meet.
Lets count our blessings how may would be swinging now if it was still that hard. |
