Full on training at Jiu Jitsu, after yesterdays session it fells like ive fallend down a flight of stairs, I'm sporting an array of bruises over my body, my right knee is aching from a lock I got put in and all my knuckles are grazed from punching. I'm gunna have a long hot soak in the bath and hopefully that will help my body recover a little, I really enjoy the fighting but my body the next day is telling me different

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

Whilst I can only dream of being half as athletic as you Mally, the idea of a long soak in a warm bath always appeals in such circumstances as yours. However, I have been told by a netball playing friend of mine that especially if you have a back injury, laying in the bath is the last thing you should do as the spine gets "loosened" in the wrong way. She says you should stand up and play the shower spray on the affected area. By the sounds of it though, that might be difficult for you as it sounds like you`re hurting all over!

I have to seriously question the quality of training your getting if you are ending up with burses all over your body. This should not and does not happen when you’re training and what on earth are you doing grazing your knuckles? There should be no contact person to person that causes such damage. Do you really go training or are you watching Jackie Chan DVDs with a beer?

Back of Beyond

Kenny, Mal does full contact where contact actually means it!

Having said that I do have to question someone who says they actually enjoy fighting! Why? I can understand the fitness side of it, but to want to inflict injury on another person is just plain wrong.

Our club practices full contact training to better prepare us for street fighting, the bruising is from impacts of me hitting the floor and blocking punches and kicks, the knuckle damage is from doing 8 sets of 20 seconds speed punching on a kick pad then 4 sets of 20 seconds of power punching, hitting PVC like that will take a few layers of skin off the knuckles and cause them to bleed, our art is obviously different to yours and has nothing to do with beer or DVDs

This is a joke right isn't it? Surely no club actively prepares you for street fighting?

No but we use street fighting as a reference a lot, if you did get involved in a brawl, your not going to bow first are you before swinging for them, a lot of the training we do is meant for competition but we have a few street fighters too who bring an interesting mix to the club, other clubs obviously teach different and no two arts are the same obviously, maybe you should go to a class by you to see what its like.

This is a joke isn't it? Training people to fight in streets isn't ethical. So which club is this so we all can join
