It's kind of self-perpetuating - a photo gets enough to be in the most fabbed list, therefore more people see it, therefore it gets more fabs, and so on.

I have no idea either, but I think it depends on where you live etc so you show up on local updates and there are more people on here say in the midlands area as an example.
