I had 2 today.
If it was a panic attack?
I'm not sure as I experienced 2 symptoms Iv never experienced before.
1, pins and needles in my hands then all over my body.
2, whilst the pins and needles were happening my hands got what I would call cramp and I couldn't open them, do nothing with them, also the cramp was in between my rib cage.
Anyone know or had these symptoms before?
It really scared me. |

Somewhere in North Norfolk |
A friend had a series of attacks of symptoms like these not long ago. The cause was identified, eventually, as a hormone problem and she's taking hormone therapy for it.
It could be a lot of things. |

"Sounds like a panic attack but best you ask a doctor as opposed to anyone on here (unless their a doctor of course)
I'm seeing one tomorrow."
Good, try not to worry too much about it as panic attacks can do crazy things to a person. Do something that calms and relaxes you |

"I had panic attacks all day yesterday, they can cause all kinds of physic symptoms.
Have you had panic attacks before?
Anything happen that could of triggered it?
"
If I'm in enclosed spaces sometimes I get them.
I have a huge phobia of sick. Being sick, seeing others be sick etc.
That triggers them but, Iv only ever experienced the dry mouth, come over all hot, breathing quicker.
No I don't know what triggered it off I was driving at the time. |

Jools used to suffer really bad panic attacks
I used to have to sit there for hours sometimes talking calmly to her stroking her hair to help relax her.
A proper panic attack causes hyperventilation
Keep a paper bag at hand. Take three deep slow breaths into bag inhaling and exhaling with bag in situ.
No more than this tho.
When an attack happens, sit down relax and take slow breaths, try to find something to distract you.
Take care

I was taught to breathe in and out through alternative nostrils. In one, then out the other,in through that one then back out the other and repeat. It really does calm you down. At the same time concentrate on a letter in the word relax. |

I do not Understand what happens with a panic attack. I know my son has sort of separation disorder means he sometimes finds it hard to leave his secure place. There fore checking everything but cannot get out.
I too can be like this.
So I cant do the go to work come home thing ok but the unfamiliar shop or get out to visit anyone is very hard to do. do not leave the house for social events easily.
What happens with the panic attack . Is this anything to do with depression or diferent ?
Do hope you can manage how you feel |

Pins and needles/cramps are a symptom of anoxia - not getting a decent enough oxygen supply due to hyperventilation, or restriction of blood flow. Regulating your breathing and flexing your hands/elbows will help. |

The usual panic attacks I have had were.. Dry mouth, hot, heart racing, quicker breathing, chocking kinda of thing sometimes and shaking. The pins and needles and cramp was new today.
I don't get them very often and when I do it's because of either my sick phobia or confined spaces.
Thankyou hope yrs gets better. |

I have panic attacks unless I take an anti anxiety medication every day. I've been on it for most of my adult life.
My worst have been at very stressful times; once when my pc was seized when I was halfway through a letter. The reasons were rubbish and all they found was me googling stress, work stress and suicide.
I went into total panic mode, was assessed be psych and put on gardening leave for 3 months.
The next time I hear one was on a ferris wheel with my family. I don't like heights at the best of times but I totally freaked out. An irrational freak out was that I thought I was going to fall. This manifested itself as a surge of adrenaline, the fight or flight response, the one that made cavemen run away from wooly mammoths.
My heart rate rose, I started to shake, hyperventilated and was uncontrollable. They had to stop the wheel and get me off.
That was a real turning point for me. I knew that I could never live without my medication.
I've been kinder to myself, been actively relaxing and not putting pressure on me.
I know I'll have another one, one day asks hope I don't do anything stupid or dangerous.
For everyone who suffers them: breathe slowly in through your nose and exhale as slowly as you can. Reassure yourself that it's not not rational and try to be calm. |

I've had a few panic attacks in recent years. My chest feels tight and fluttery, occasionally I get a bit breathless and I feel trapped, sometimes I end up pacing the room.
Currently I've been having pins and needles in my right leg for two weeks now, and in pain for one. Can't stand or walk about for more than 5 mins at a time.
The doctor says it's my sciatic nerve and has given me pills, but no improvement yet |
