Not a look at me thread per se, although not looking at me will mean you can't offer me advice.
I think my avatar is sufficiently distinctive to be easily recognizable in the forums. It might not be the best picture of me, sum me up the best, or even attract interest, but at the time I selected it, it seemed to be ok.
My question is, should I change it, and if so, what to?
All my non-face pics are now public to allow an informed decision to be made |

Like you say, the one you have immediately says 'that's Mr Marmite'
I'm often confused when some of the most iconic avatars get changed. (Doesn't take much to confuse me though) |

I change mine at a whim since I get bored of looking at myself from the same angle all the time. Maybe if I had an instantly recognisable one like yours I would stick with it though. If it ain't broke and all that... |

It's a classic avatar, instantly recognisable as you.
swap it around every now and then for a change but always revert back to it when some serious popcorn posting is in order x |

Thank you for the comments, blushing on the thought of it being even vaguely considered iconic or classic.
But on the basis it helps people identify that the comment following the bound arse is likely to be utter nonsense and best avoided, the avatar will stay. The name and the pic work well together to make me stand out. Not always for the right reason, but better than blending into the background!
Thank you all! |

Was there one of those? That sounds like fun. But who would want to be Vegemite? |

Oh, I was just thinking out loud so to speak. It's not a properly formed idea in any way shape or form. Plus there are at least three I reckon I could easily pull off and they they're an M, F and TV so I would be stuck for choice. |

I think this one has legs. I'm not on here enough to coordinate voting, but I think that this could be done.
Stage 1
Set your avatar as your most recogniseable one for a week, giving those playing time to choose the one they want to impersonate.
Stage 2
Set it as your avatar for the week, allowing people time to vote.
that way, we won't have people mimicking the avatars of people who are mimicking avatars. That would confuse me.
in addition, you would have to let people work out for themselves who's avatar is being mimicked. If it isn't easily recogniseable without assistance, then you haven't done a good job.
The week between stages allow for ebay time to deliver props for anyone wishing to mimic Tina
Cross gender mimicry is perfectly acceptable. |

If people use my avatar to know at a glance that it is me, they can choose to just pass the comment by. I know a few people don't always like or agree with what I post. |

I'm happy to organise Avatar Impersonation if others can occasionally bump the threads through the day.
I think we can do it in a week if we relax it to allow impersonation of any recognised pic, because a few people have a few pretty popular / iconic pics. Main avatar is obviously best if most recognisable. |
