Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I didn't know Colleen McCollough died yesterday. Thanks for the Thornbirds.

That was the steamy novel of my youth. I wanted a dress in ashes of roses just because.

Were you a Thornbirds, and the sequel, follower?

Listening to the excerpt from the television series on R4 reminds me how controversial it was.

I may need to re-read it.

Richard c was the priest. It was racy for tv but very well done. Brian Brown the Ausie was the other guy.

I had fallen for the priest from reading the book and then when it was Richard Chamberlain in the series my boyfriend looked a little too ordinary.

Outback Australia, a young girl befriended by the new priest, she grows up in love with him and he is sorely tempted...

Since I was 10, that probably isn't much of a surprise.

My sister re-read it recently and said it held up well. I'll have to find my old paperback from 1979.

Knowing your tastes it may never have been something you would consider reading.

My tastes were probably different at 10. Anything to do with horses, I think.

I hope it wasn't sexual dalliance with a priest and a girl he treated as his daughter.

Richard Chamberlain is on Shogun on CBS. That was unexpected.
