just heard on the news that 6million people have been under charged tax on paye and will be asked for on average £1500 back
how can this happen ? thats the whole point of paye its worked out week by week.
will not be happy f i get a letter aking for it  they can fook off |

6 million is the total number of people whose tax is wrong but 1.4 million OWE money and 4.3 million are OWED money.
You might be one of the lucky ones  Will you tell them to fook off then? |

You can tell them to fook off all you like... they just take it anyway lol
They made a mistake on mine 3 years ago, I was undercharged, they just alter your tax code for the next year and take it back.... but then they took too much back as I earnt more than they expected when they calculated the adjustment... so then I got some back in a lump sum... swings and roundabouts |

From what I can gather it sounds like it's those who declare their own earnings that have been taxed incorrectly.
The HMRC say that if you can prove that you provided the correct information at the time then they will consider writing off any underpayment. |

not necessarily... it looks like those people mainly affect are those who have had 2 jobs, or changes in jobs...
I went thru this when i changed because the job that I went from was under single tax credits to over.... so got letters saying that I should not be getting it anymore which i wasn't, but wasn't on the right tax code so ended up getting a 500 pound rebate from them |

I have had it where I changed jobs mid month before as both employers used my full personal allowance and therefore I underpaid.
Only once in all the times I've changed jobs over the years though. |

how does that work when 1.8 million people will be cursing then for paying more....... but 4.3 million will be thanking then for getting a rebate!!!
they are up 2.5 million votes.... damn... the tories would have won outright!!!!  |

We can alredy blame them for a lot of thing and, in the short time they have left, we'll be able to blame them for much, much more.
With the best will in the world I don't think we can blame them for mistakes in calculating PAYE. |

It's worth remembering that, if HMRC owe you money, they'll contact you by letter - not email.
If you get an email saying 'HMRC here, we owe you money, send us your bank account details so we can pay you' it's a CON. |
