Really you do need wifi as smart TV's have apps such as Netflix, Amazon, Youtube etc that stream content from the internet

Yes you need either wifi or ethernet connections for them to work.

You could but you're really gonna chew up your data allowance big time and it might be slow too

You could get a dongle and plug it into your tv but i dont know if it would be cost effective or even if you can get a good connection.

Or even if its compatible with a tv.

Don't see why a dongle or mifi wouldn't be compatibile but whether it would be fast enough would be the question

You don't need WiFi - if you've got a broadband modem you can connect via an Ethernet cable.

But you don't necessarily need to buy a new TV. If you've got a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 you can connect that to your broadband and TV and use it to access catch up TV, Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime etc.

That's what I do and it works fine.

Phones generally have a monthly 2gig data limit because mobile networks don't want you using phones as hotspots

Well if it's unlimited data then you're covered there. Is your signal 3G or 4G at home? 4G would be much more likely to work ok as its so much faster

Chromecast dongle is good. You need wifi though. Great for porn and streaming your phone directly to the tv. Amongst other things

Do not get LG thy have huge privacy concerns when it comes to their Smart TV. Like identifying who is watching the telly so they can aim advertising to them. Thy also read your browsing history.

"

Even with 'unlimited' data if you're canning it the network will slow you down, and streaming films will burn through a hell of a lot
