Might not be true, no-one else has been told to abstain.
I was just asking coz i went without this weekend, wasn't too bothered but nurse was off this morning anyway so i didn't get my smear and have to go next week for one, and don't feel like missing out again. |

The NHS advice leaflet says:
Can I have sex before the test?
If you use a spermicide, a barrier method of contraception, or a lubricant jelly, you should not use these for 24 hours before the test as the chemicals they contain may affect the test. |

Right thankyou, so yeah i will have to abstain again, only for 24 hours though so not too bad.
Don't even trust myself to meet without the intent of sex so that's why i'll go without. |

I've never heard this before either. I wonder how many people have had skewed results and had to of been retested because they don't inform people. |

Think a few people have learned something today, lol.
While back i had a coil in and got dodgy smear results because of it (needed a biopsy), they might have told me to abstain then in case that was affecting the reults? Not sure now, can't remember when i was told but it stuck in my head.
