Costa Blanca Spain...

I always thought that Rod Stewarts Tom Trauberts Blues (Waltzing Matilda) about the decent into alcoholism and ultimately death was a very powerful and very sad song.

The last verse.

It's a battered old suitcase in a hotel someplace, and a wound that will never heal.

No primadonna's the perfume is on, and an old shirt that's stained with blood and whisky.

So goodnight to the street sweepers and night watchmen flame keepers, and goodnight Matilda too.

I've been uploading all my cds onto my new mp3 and have rediscovered loads of old faves.

Behind the wall by Tracy Chapman got me as though it was the first time I'd heard it.

"Mike and the Mechanics... In The Living Years "

This gets me every time. 'No crumpled bits of paper with imperfect thoughts' after my dad died we found a load of papers in his desk with sketches of the boat he was building and the name of the boat was going to be me daughter's name.

Along with Billy Ocean's Love really hurts without you...that was playing on the radio as he passed away

What's that tragic song, about leaving the cake out in the rain, and he'll never find the recipe again.

Heartbreaking.

Especially if you are 30 stone and too fat to work.
