"Are you seeing anyone at the moment?"
Jump to: Newest in thread
So I'm off out this afternoon for the annual catch up with people I used to go to Uni with and face the inevitable "Are you seeing anyone at the moment?" question.
Everyone else in the group is married or getting married in the next few months.
I don't suppose it's socially acceptable really to say "No but I did go speed dating at a swingers club the other night" is it? |

No definitely not, suppose you could say it and see what happens. I bet they won't believe you though.
Should be fun. You might find out some guy you went to school with has blossomed into a hunk, so who know... |

Of course it is. You will make them all jealous. They used to have fun at uni and now they are in boring steady relationships, trailing to Ikea at the weekend, whereas you are still in uni mode! |

You should. I never see the point of these kind of reunions. No one ever goes if their life is crap. People only go to boast - telling you that since uni, they have this amazing life, career, partner....
No one ever says, since uni, I have this massive debt, no one in my life and the only job that I could get, even with my degree is in McDonalds.

If anyone asks me I just say no I'm single but with lots of "friends" and give them a bit of a cheeky look, they get the message them usually look a bit sulky and say they wish they had "friends" too |

I've got the best of both worlds im in a relationship where we don't live together.
Last time when I was single for a bit my mum used to wait until we where in the car so I couldn't escape and used to ho on and on about getting into a relationship, even offered to pay for me to join a dating site.
I was really happy being single but guess I'm happier now.
God forbid if anything happen to jay I would stay single afterwards |

Well I thought I'd got away with it until right at the end when someone asked me if I was still online dating nah I haven't got time for it. I didn't add in the part about barely finding time to sleep with strangers at the moment never mind date them
If anyone in my family takes the mick out of my lack of sex life I just jokingly say I've had 3 men round this week |

If someone tells me that BurgerKing also do a degree, I think a career change is imminent! |

It's surprisingly easy to say nothing about yourself. Answer with something vague then ask a question about them. They will forget they were talking about you. Works a treat! |

Being married, its not a question I get asked regularly. Come to think of it, I've never been asked that question. But to your question, I would forget what' socially acceptable and say what you want to say. A happy life is one spent being who you really are. I encourage you to be true to yourself and to hell with what society thinks. x |

It wasn't too bad today, they spent a while discussing engagement/wedding rings so as I have nothing to say on the matter I got to keep quiet |
