Safe to say there is no such thing as customer loyalty.. Been with my car insurance company since i learnt to drive, renewal quote came through as more expensive than what i pay currently. Checked it out online and its just over £100 cheaper

still a 10min phone call and im now saving £9 a month..

Makes you wonder how many people just accept the automatic renewal

There'll still be some but would imagine most are savvy enough to shop around now.

I changed insurer last year. Been with the same company since I put the car back on the road in 2010 (which was the same company i'd been insuring it with since I first got it back in 2003)

Last year the price almost doubled.

Bye bye.

I have to use specialist insurers as I don't drive something 'normal' so can't use the likes of Direct Line, Churchill etc or even the comparison sites.

Had the same last year

Plus all the extras they try and get you to take...

'Mis-fuelling insurance can we add that for you?

No thank you

May I ask why you think you don't need it?'

I have a diesel, other car in household a diesel, car before a diesel, company car before that a diesel....are you seeing a pattern here? If I haven't got the hang of picking diesel by now am f*cked'

Just had renewals for bike and breakdown cover. Auto renewal price £300 for both. Checked out competition prices, two phone calls and paid £200. Silly not to!

Never accept a renewal quote from your existing insurance company for anything.

As a 'new' customer you'll get a better deal - retention targets are smaller than new business ones.

Go online and search, and pretend to be new with your existing provider.

If you use a certain comparison site you can also then flog the stupid meerkat on eBay and make more money!

I'm actually beginning to wonder if the insurance industry as a whole have been shitting themselves over the past year or so because of the government wanting to crack down on the industry and rising premiums - caused largely by an exponential rise in personal injury claims.

Maybe they're thinking that the game is almost up, so let's make a bundle before we're rumbled.
