Go to control panel

Internet setting

Something about a default page

You're kind of on your own from there.

Good luck

I don't know if the site supports posting up web links. But google (or bing) set default search engine will give you plenty of options depending on the browser that you prefer.

Generally I make Google my homepage. The screen is so simple it loads quickly.

I'm using IE11, but I believe it works the same way.

Left click on the gear icon in the top right. Select 'Manage Add Ons' from the menu.

On the left hand side of the new window select 'Search Providers', this will open the display to show the installed search providers and allows you to delete unwanted ones, add new ones and set a default.

Just open Google. Search for anything. It will realise it's not the default and will ask do you want to change indefinitely

Don't you have a drop box in the search toolbar? Choose google from that. it will change it for you without any faffing about.

Just don't try doing it from within IE. You have seen HAL in 2010, right..?

Central

Are you using a computer or mobile device? If its 8.1 mobile then I suggest you go to the Store and download Opera mini. It's a non-Microsoft browser but you should find it defaults to searching via Google.

Otherwise if you're on a PC or laptop then opera.com, Firefox.com and chrome will give you a different browser. The first two let you choose which search engine to choose as your standard one, such as Google or duckduckgo.

I'd recommend Chrome over any Internet browser.
