I think it's intended as "Look! This could be you!" like we'll imagine our parts in the place of the lady parts in the photo and get turned on.
A lot of men don't realise a lot of women aren't as visual as they are and aren't often turned on by graphic photos of total strangers having sex.

Pics on profiles are just for people to show off. It's the pics you send in messages that matter most. After all most people keep face pics private or friends only.
