Why do so many have a problem with the winking option on here ? It's part of the site after all isn't it ??

Personally, i like to send one or two out just to see if anyone's interested. I don't really get what the problem is...

We don't have a problem with winks as such, but it depends on the circumstances.

If a hot couple winks us and we like them we will message back and say hi. Sometimes we will wink a couple too as a way to say "we like you" and if they wink or message back we've got mutual interest.

That said when it comes to single guys there are literally thousands on here. Winks are just ignored deleted from guys. You'd have to have a stand out message and a great profile for us to consider replying,

So.... it depends

Yeah, i can understand that. It's just seems as one of the many, many single men on here like a quick-fire way to see if you're messages are gonna be worthwhile sending

Well, I can see where you are coming from but try and imagine it from our perspective, we get an average of 40 winks/mails/friend requests per day from single guys..... you'd REALLY have to stand out with a great message and profile let alone a wink.

Thats why so many couples don't allow single guys to contact them and state "we'll find you if we want you"

We've only been back on here 2 weeks and already the guys are becoming tedious

Our advice would be to forget about winking altogether. You are a single guy who needs to stand out by sending good messages and having a great profile. Your winks will ignored.

Use proper spelling, grammar and punctation. The last sentence on your profile sounds a bit needy and desperate too. And some better crafted pics would also help.

Hi I used to use winks as a quick hello. Though now if I read a profile that really catches my attention I take the time to send a message and not just one liners .

not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds)

I dont send winks.. Im happy to receive them though,

My thoughts are if the profile interests me enough to wink at them then I'm prepared to invest a few minutes of my time to draft a message to the individual / couple concerned, a message will offer me the greatest chance of being noticed as it conveys information that a wink cannot..

if winks work for you carry on if theyre not workinv change something.

What if the message was of an standard you require and the profile was great however you did not find the person attractive at all? I don't get your point at all here. It's all about the connection between 2 people. I usually get winks and messages I base it on the picture first and not because I am shallow. I need to be attracted to the person I am potentially going to meet and secondly i check there profile to see if we share the same interest and even after all that it doesn't mean we will get on. Most people usually know through the first couple of messages if there was any connection or not. The bit about a stand out message is a meath.

If we didn't find the guy or couple attractive it's all irrelevant anyway as it won't be happening period In our case it's the stand out connection between 3 or 4 people....

Well, that's your opinion but the reality in our case (and probably many other couples) is that we ignore winks from single guys. It come across as lazy when there are thousands to choose from on here.

What if the guy that winked at you is what you are looking for and has a great profile but he is shy and "Not lazy"? There's lots of reasons why people wink I am not one of them. However I have made great friends who have winked at me in the past because I gave them a chance and did not judge.

Not got a problem with winks just look at them and carry on.

They don't catch the eye like a message so it's rare we respond. A good message stands out from the crowd where as winks don't.

We've answered that several times from our personal perspective. We send and receive winks between couples but to us personally a wink from a guy is ignored. Cos there are thousands of you on here..... We don't judge ever.... but we are inundated with blokes

I think it depends on whether the winkee actually finds the Winker attractive.

All this I don't respond to winks stuff can go out of the window if the winkee likes the look of the Winker.

I guess it's a way of cutting down the inflow for single women and couples, mand that's fair enough.

I tend to take no notice of them, even though it's kind of flattering. I know it is a way of showing interest in someone, but I'd much prefer to receive a message rather than put the onus on me to respond.

I have has several over the years from people who are many light years away from not only my location but also my preferences.

Still, each to their own I suppose

Yea but if you get loads and loads from totally unsuitable people you don't have time to check out profiles, it's only the ones with a really unusual and attractive avatar that are going to get noticed. A short message is way more effective.

Have to agree with everything you have said: for us, winks from single guys are very unlikely to lead anywhere. A well crafted, polite, interesting message is most likely to grab our attention. It gives a chance to see what someone's personality is like and that is very important to us: an average looking bloke with a good personality will be of greater interest than a great looking man with no personality.

It is a double standard but winks from women or couples will get much more interest

Herein lies the problem for you op. Its likely you receive few messages and or winks daily... So a lady / couple sends a wink to a guy... Hes likely to respond. Flip that coin given the difference in numbers... Its unlikely to illicit a response as theres lots of guys sending messages. I dont send many messages i do think the amount of time I do spend sending them is a worthwhile investment.

When I first joined on here, I used to send long and detailed messages, having read the person's or couples' profile first. They weren't mass produced but reflected what their profile said. In the most part, I was ignored. So I started sending winks. They were also ignored. Now, I am back to messages but with the same lack of response.

Mind you, it could be because I am old, married, uncut and unshaved. Thank goodness I don't have cock pics on public show, otherwise it could be even worse.
