Prompted from earlier do people that use the forums get messages when they post a new thread or comment ?
We had one this morning and then got blocked lol !! Thought the whole point of forums was to discuss subjects on there ? lol |

I never post a thread to get messages, only to either get something off my chest or to say something to the wider forum community.
As a way of attracting new messages, it has never worked for me! I do get blocked by people as a result of some of my comments.

It does happen on occasion.
A while back, I had been providing some 'advice' on countless 'help with my profile' threads and a couple of fellow contributors messaged me complimenting me on my tips.
Sometimes you might post something that strikes a chord with someone and they might feel inclined to message you outside of the forum.
In some cases, it can even lead to meets.
What I like about the forum is that you can get a much better sense of someones personality from their posts than you would otherwise get just from reading their profile.
It's a great way of getting to know people on the site. |

We dont post to get messages either was just interested if others get them or it was just us and a random event lol |

We can all be perfect , it just wouldnt be as much fun lol   |

I get the odd bit of abuse and then get blocked. Usually LFC fans or socialists.  |

Pretty much all of my messages come as a result of my forum posts - I got a surprising amount thanking me for the Chinese Whisper thread, and how much people enjoyed it. |

My forum experience has largely shown me how dense I can be. Lol
I came on to just have a laugh and post a few comments- just be myself, really- but found that people were actually reading what I wrote.
As a consequence, I've made some really good contacts and got a few meets... More may be in the offing
I've never started a thread and definitely not posted to get a message. Maybe I'll start. Haha |
