South East Midlands NOT

Half caste men are a favourite of mine. I'm sure plenty of women like them.

But then, black men and white men are also a favourite of mine.

There are women who don't care what colour or race you are. They will focus on you

A caste is how people are ranked/defined within society. Saying someone is half caste is saying they're worth less than a white person. It may be what he chooses to say, but it's definitely an insult.

Doesn't matter what skin colour, as long as they treat you nice then go with the flow and enjoy the ride....

Silly point but one of those casts is black and the other white. You've implied one is seen as in ferior. It may be wrong to say but not racist.

Whether he's asking or not, it's still a poor choice of words and often seen as an insult.

He might think its acceptable - but the more people view phrases and words as the norm the less we are teaching the next generation (or more bad, depending on how you view it). I grew up in a non-racist family that just thought it was a general term, it was an acceptable description of people, it wasn't until I was a teenager that I understood the phrase and felt mostly sick that I had genuinely used it for so many years.

Anyway I ramble..

Out of interest, what would you prefer that they were referred to as? Obviously it would be best if they weren't pigeon hole'd, but most people don't work that way!x

My response was to someone saying it's not an insult and politically correct. I don't think black people are below me in society, so I think "half caste" is insulting and a racial slur.

Hate the term half cast, that and coloured people pisses me off and I do find it offensive . I suppose it's up to the individual what they want to call them selves but if I am in a conversation and those terms come up. I will stop the conversation dead in its tracks.

I am of mixed race heritage of black Jamaican and white english/ polish. My children are mixed heritage too.

Sorry went on a bit there, I am a woman that likes and plays with all races and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I am sure that most women are the same on here

Mixed race or half caste. I'm part of a PC, not PC world, I apologise if anyone took offence it wasn't to be portrayed in such a manor. Personally I normally say mixed race. Over all regardless of the digressed converstion that has transpired from the original post whos a fan?

I'm mixed race (NZ Maori/NZ European) and half caste is used commonly and not in an offensive or derogatory way. I use it to describe myself unironically and quite proudly. But lord help me the first (and only) time I used it here in the UK... I silenced a room.

Because of its meaning here, I would never refer to anyone over here using that expression but continue to use it for myself amongst friends.

Though the bigger issue for me racially is that Im mistaken for multiple ethnicities other than my own. Which is cool; but for some reason makes me feel like I'm somehow betraying my roots or some shit.

Bristol.

OP...I felt really sorry for you as your question was virtually ignored when the 'pc/English'police took over scoring cheap points....You call yrself whatever you feel comfortable with..

Perhaps try the whole thing again with different terminology..people can be so rude on here.

For what its worth,i think a large number of people on here couldn't give two hoots and just want to be laid..Ax

I don't think he should be forced to use different terminology just because some of the forum people are offended on his behalf

He has every right to describe himself as he wishes

I hope he has lots of fun
