Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Ch4 starts a new series of separate but interlinked gay dramas this week, aimed at different age demographics.
They seem to have missed the one for the older, retired gay people though.
Will you be watching? Is this our new Queer as Folk? |

We will watch
I just hope it is a more accurate portrayal of gay lifestyle than QAF was
We lead very mundane lives as a rule.
Somehow ending the day in bed with a man rather than a woman makes us infinitely more interesting to some folk. Apparently. |

Queer As Folk was groundbreaking and of its time, though. My gay friends at that time were a bit like that. Now they are more mundane and bake cakes. |

It definitely broke ground
It also created many stereotypes though, more negative than positive imho
Having watched it at the time, it was interesting to watch an episode with J recently.
He just thought it was unnecessary tripe.
I guess perceptions have come a long way in a generation.
That's gotta be a good thing |

It has indeed.
Just as watching the Ch4 programme about the 70s left me horrified at what we grew up watching and the younger commentators on that programme couldn't believe anything like it had ever been shown. |

will watch some of them but only if they are entertaining, one day the fact that someone is gay, black, muslim, disabled etc etc wont be the reason a programme is made as it wont be 'different'..
maybe.. |

They all have a "thing" though. It might be the split family thing or the daft bugger who loves the smart one thing.

"I've just caught up on the last episode. !!!
Indeed!
Very well done I thought, but shocking
Think the series has been really good. Haven't seen the others, only cucumber "
Even with the warning it was still more of a shock than I thought it would be.

I wish I hadn't seen posts on Facebook saying how shocked people were at it, then maybe I would have been more shocked
Still loved queer as folk, love this! I like seeing places I recognise on TV too
How many more episodes before I start hoping they are doing a 2nd series?? |

"I was slightly underwhelmed, although I have enjoyed the series as a whole. Being a Doctor Who fan, I was probably missing a horde of Daleks, a regeneration, or Rose Tyler mysteriously appearing."
There was The Collective.
