Is UK politics changing? Did Blair's right-wing left-wing approach precipitate this? Are we going to have to get used to coalition governments?
Would we have more respect for opposing parties if they were actually able to state, "Yes, they have a good idea there," instead of constantly shouting abuse at each other?
All references to UKIP and expenses will, of course, help a lively discussion. |

We currently have relatively weak traditional parties and weak leaders together with nationalist parties growing in popularity and an electoral system that will throw up non conclusive results where we have the factors above. So I think we should get used to coalition governments.
Given the way things are I would like to see the major policy areas of health, education and defence looked at on a much more cross party basis so we can have a bit more of a long term approach rather than flip flopping around depending on which party has the most influence. |

Yes it is changing and that will be with the rise of parties like the SNP and to a degree ukip..
still think the real issue is the disconnection many in society have with politics..
but can see why that is.. |

Maybe it is time to change the first past the post concept of politics and get truly representative government with proportional representation.
Many who live in "safe" seats truly feel that their vote is pointless if they have an opinion contrary to the "safe seat." |

Yes.
The middle ground has expanded now to include large swathes of the left and right....
I do think voting should become compulsory...with a "none of the above" option to allow a protest vote. |

You can change the faces but the politics will remain the same... new name, new face but he/she will have to stick to the politics that the corporations want ... |
