I'd venture that it really depends on the work you're doing. For instance I write for magazines, what's valued by my employers is the ability to turn in copy of the right length on time without too many mistakes. When I was working in logistics, it was valuable for people to be able to work quickly and efficiently without making mistakes. When I was a lifeguard, swimming was a good skill. None of those jobs required fortitude or courage. They might be an nice added extra for a chat in the staffroom, but as long as people got on with what they were paid for... | |||
