Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
When everything else had escaped from the box one thing remained - hope.
A comment Tina Titz made on another thread about the innate decency of people made me think about at the innate hope people hold.
Relatively, very few songs are about miserable things. That gives me hope for us all as people. Extremists might want us to stop singing (it's a doodah, not an example of fact) but the tunes still play in our head.
What are you innately hopeful about?

"our ability as humans to one day realise we have more to gain by not killing each other..
and to look after this planet which we depend upon .."
In ever increasing numbers. Plenty more to help look after the planet and all that Mother Nature can provide. |

That people who believe in the same God stop killing each other over their different beliefs in God. Hopeful, but not expecting much.
Then again, I am listening to Radiohead.

"The way the world is now is only a pale shadow of what it could one day be. We’re still only at the beginning of history. As you get older, despair becomes far easier, almost reflex (whereas in adolescence, it was still cool and adventurous). Pessimism isn’t necessarily deep, nor optimism shallow."
Alain de Botton said this and I liked it. It makes me sad when people say things in this world are beyond help, or if they just can't forgive. |

Somewhere in North Norfolk |
I pass my MSc and it helps me get back into enjoyable, challenging work. (I've completed 1/6 of the first module so far and have passed that).
That my parents eventually find some peace.
That I can get my shoe collection down to a manageable size and not trip over shoe boxes several times per day.
That I wake up one day and realise that actually, I don't like sugar.
That my cats keep good health for a few more years and pass without suffering.
I have a lot of hope at the moment. |
