Titz Towers, North Notts |
I was thinking of This Life earlier today. It was a really big show in the mid 90's and everyone I knew seemed to watch it. Nowadays if someone is watching the Walking Dead and you ask if Egg's still alive, 9/10 times they give you a blank look.
What other examples can you think of like this? A show that really seemed to catch the public imagination for a short while, then vanished.

I was thinking more obscure today, as that one is still fairly well known. If you asked why did the Titanic hit an iceberg, 2/3 people will say because Yosser was driving.... |

'Our Friends In The North' (1996) was an acclaimed series that starred Christopher Eccleston, Daniel Craig and others who's careers are still going strong.
I can still remember how emotionally powerful the final scene was with Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger playing in the background and all the way through the end credits. |

The late night version of Tiswas was OTT.
Not sure whether it was any good or not but typical of the sort of song they'd play was Shel Sileverstein's "Stacy Brown's Got Two"
Eurotrash's Pepe and Popo will remain etched in the rear brain.
"Married with Kids" was very funny.
Early 1980's and the start of Channel 4 featuring "The Paul Hogan Show". "Delilah" from the fitness episode is very memorable.
Not sure any of the above were "Massive/huge" but good entertainment all the same.

"I was thinking of This Life earlier today.
" I loved this life |

I can still remember how emotionally powerful the final scene was with Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger playing in the background and all the way through the end credits." an excellent programme.... Loved it. And all four now big stars in hollywood |

some real memory-jerkers here (how much did I love the Water Margin when I was a kid!) More recently, one I thought was great but nobody seems to have heard of was Nightingales - brilliant surreal sitcom about night security men in an office building with Robert Lindsay and David Threlfall. Anyone? |

I bought a 1950's box set called Gideon's way. For my mam when she was alive I've just watched it. It's kind of a police programme. Such very young famous actors in it.

No-one has said Minder have they? At the time it was just about the biggest thing on Tele, yet it seems almost forgotten. Unless it is being repeated all the time on a channel I barely watch.
Does anyone remember the american series set in Alaska called Northern Exposure? Clever, quirky scripts and a great cast. |
