"What's everyone reading at the moment?
I'm reading 'Empire' by Niall Ferguson at the moment.
"
Nothing apart from what's on tv!
I really want to read the 2 other books by Gillian flyn (think I got the name correct) the author that wrote Gone Girl!
Is it out on DVD yet? |

good luck with the job..Connie x"
thanks! I'm not desperate, in that I'm not out of work or anything - just a bit jaded with my current job and a change would be nice... |

I too have recently gone back through the Pratchett novels from first to last. I am currently re-reading Sex, Drugs and Sausage Rolls, the sixth book in the Brentford triangle series by Robert Rankin.... |

Mario Puzzo's The Godfather
it's fascinating how the Book is so different to the Movie
Micheal corleone (Al Pacino) was intended to be Blonde
and Frank Pentangelli in the 2nd one was originally intended to be Pete Clemenza..... |

Hello Tina,
I've just finished 'Squandered' by David Craig, about how Gordon Brown spent a trillion pounds in his time in office with little or nothing to show for it.

Ah yes - the Anti - Pope? I have to say I think Norman Hartnell is one of the best characters ever written. And I still plan to learn the ancient art of Dimac. .. |

I don't tire of them.
I reread Lord of the rings every year too. And Mansfield park by Elisabeth Gaskell.
I would recommend Louis De Bernieres Bird without wings to anyone. Truly amazing story. He is the author of captain corellis mandolin but his other works are just as good if not better.

Louis De Bernieres is a great shout - his books set in South America are sometimes hilarious and sometimes so insightful and touching.... I am going to have to dig them out again now (I think one is The War of Don Emmanuels Nether Parts? ) |

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.
A Swedish book about a cranky old man. The tale is split between the current day and his formative years. It's really, really moving. I recommend as long as you don't mind a bit of a cry.
I don't cry of course as I am a real man |

bird without wings is breathtakingly well written . One of my favourites.
Yes one is The War of Don Emmanuels Nether Parts.
The millennium Trilogy by Steig Larsson also time worthy. |

Currently reading the owners manual for Donna's car, not very interesting and no story line, more factual than fiction, although I've noticed the quoted mpg may have a little bit of fiction involved |

Currently reading 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, which is good but mostly for my uni course.
This thread has inspired me to go and raid local charity shops for books, as I've just realised I haven't read anything new for ages! |
