I'm looking for some recommendations for a new laptop, around the 500 mark, maybe a bit more for the right one.
Basically I mainly use it for Web browsing and taking with me on holidays etc. I'd like a decent screen and graphics, and decent processor and memory. I have a surface tablet rt at the minute (never again) and a desktop for all my music, photos, gaming etc. |

Yeah got one Saturday comes in purple blue or white. ..10 minutes before that I'd bought one from John Lewis which wasn't as good spec and 50 pounds more expensive ..they couldn't price match because they didn't sell the same hp that currys did x |

I bought a surface rt as a christmas present - sent it back within the week. I was going to say why not a tablet? I am looking at the xperia z2 tablet.
Ebuyers, Expanys have some good offers on laptops.
Why do you want to take one on holiday?
For that money you could get a very nice purpose built small form factor pc to plug into your tv? Try Overclockers (who will build you one) or Scan for parts |

"Anybody use a macbook pro or Macbook air? I'm tempted just to spend the extra and get one of those. "
Yes - I use a MBP, not the Air.
They are great, but if you've not used OS X before then there's a bit of a learning curve. Nothing too bad though. And certainly much better than Windows 8
But I have one as I use Logic, a DAW (music software) that's only for Mac. If I was just browsing the internet and sending emails then it's an expensive option. |

Now I`ve had it a week I`ll say I hate the touch pad and I`m going to dig out a mouse soon. I`m also going to say I`ve been directed in the direction of classicshell.net for a programme to make 8.1 behave and looklike Windows 7! |
