Been off since March so one day has pretty much blurred into the next tbh. But when I am working a bank holiday means a very long weekend for me as I'll finish Thursday night/Friday morning and not have to go back in till Tuesday night.

I think people should choose whether they want to work bank holiday and have a day off in lue. Everytime you try and go somewhere on a bank holiday the roads are packed and all the places are chocker block. I much prefer to go to places on a quite midweek day.

The problem with that is if just 1 person of a workforce of 50 wants to go in they have to have security open up and lock down and some companies insurance won't be valid if workers go in when they're not expected to. My own job is like that. I'm not allowed to be in a switch if I'm not expected there, because if I had an accident there would nobody else there to tend to me.

at my place you are assumed to be working unless you book it off - causes merry hell on Christmas and Boxing Day as to the company these are just normal working days!!

i'm not back till wednesday now so all good

It's not a statutory bank holiday in Scotland but a lot of places don't work either because they're subsidiaries of English firms or do so much business with English firms that there'd be no point in opening.
