As with many its the time of year to diet again. But dont worry I hear the cries of "just eat less exercise more"..and " dont diet change your lifestyle" All easier said than done for some!
I would love to hear from anyone who uses the 5 2 diet/lifestyle/technique. How dod it work for you. Pros cons helpful tips etc
Thanks in anticipation!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
My sister, her husband and I all started doing 5-2 at the same time.
After just under 3 months he had lost 18lbs, she had lost about 10lbs and I had gained 3lbs.
It works for some and not for others. They have remained on the diet and have made it a part of their eating lifestyle. I stopped doing it and lost the 3lbs I had gained.

It didn't.
I couldn't hack the fast days having a physical job (it isn't recommended for people with physical jobs for this reason, but I did it anyway).
So, I just spread my deficit over all 7 days and...er... did more exercise... |

Fad diets
Just make healthier choices and walk a bit more.
For me, cut out bread, sweets and cakes, plus only eat anything with less than 3g of fat per 100g and it drops off me.
I can cope with that.
For a few months at least |

We did it for a while last year and found it worked to lose weight.
We downloaded an app called fitness pal which allows you to scan the barcodes on food to work out the calories and what portion sizes you can have.
We mainly ate stir frys and omlettes. Over time our portion sizes on the non fasting days reduced as we got fuller quicker. |

Haven't done 5:2, but I've heard good things. Give it a try?
I done 16:8 low carb IF to cut up last summer, and gotta say, I enjoyed it, felt good and dropped some mega body fat. My mate tried it and blacked out on the bench though so be careful. |

It worked for me until I got a contract out in Belgium on FULL expenses, my mind wanted to say "salad and a glass of water please" but it came out as "Steak, chips and a bottle of Merlot please"
While I was doing it I lost 1.5 stone in about 8 months. Need to go back on it as I'm getting close to the 18 stone mark again.... |

I know a few people have tried it and had success. For me instead of drastically reducing calories to the point of being ridiculously hungry 2 days a week I find cutting down a smaller amount every day is much less difficult. |

"Im slowly moving over to a full paelo diet.. The only things i cant give up is all dairy and peas.. They may be my treats "
I just made some lovely chocolate brownies using a Paleo recipe. Quite yummy and work as a treat on my none Paleo diet. |

"500 calories below your daily maintenance would be easier and more worthwhile "
I think the theory of the 5 2 diet is more complex than that. The thinking is that 2 days effectively fasting put your body into a different mode, which means when you do eat your body deals with it in a different way. Its not just about overall calorie intake.
Giving it ago and so far so good! |
