It has been mentioned before on the radio etc, but why do police or anti terrorist squads not use knockout gas on hostage situations ??
Gas everyone including the terrorists, ok so the hostages walk away with a headache but they are alive and the terrorists are captured alive !! Stops them achieving martyrdom and they can be tried for their crimes !
Seems a good conclusion to me ?? Any thoughts on this ? |

There's always a danger that an innocent civilian could have an allergic reaction to said gas as well. Heaven forbid it took the life of someone that's supposed to be being rescued. |

"Its not immediate which gives the nutters time to panic and start shooting everything as they choke
Gimp"
Fair point but surely by now they have something which can be almost instant ? Or fast acting whilst they storm the situation ? |

The Russians tried it during the Moscow theatre siege. Hundreds died due to the concentration being wrong and it not being effective immediately allowing the hostage takers to start shooting.
No such thing as a perfect knock out gas and delivering it into an unknown environment that's not hermetically sealed in a safe concentration will cause more harm and panic. |
