Quit Smoking Day 5

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Hi,

I am half way through day 5 cold turkey and bouncing off the walls, has anyone got any advice?

The run up to this point has been really easy and I thought I'd been lucky... how wrong was I.. Night sweats, don't sleep any more, rude to people and I haven't stopped eating.

Seems to be getting worse! Smoked for 10 years 20 per day.

Get an ecig, or ride it out, occupy your mind, keep busy, exercise, etc

No no people are on ecigs for months on end! Does my tree in when someone says, 'I've quit' whilst puffing on a ecig which has nicotine in.. What exactly have you quit

Excessively exercising which is helping to some degree lol

As said above. 10 months cig free after 33ish yrs here. tride countless time's before this and flopped every time till I tride vaping. Yes some say it's cheating but it's way better than smoking. Only real problem I've had is gaining weight but I've even got that under control now. Good luck pal and take it from me it's worth the pain

Use some kind of nicotine replacement therapy. No point going cold turkey if you're not coping. You want to successfully quit, not be a hero

Another one here on an E-cig. It's week 5 for me and I am now on a very low does of nicotine! Feel a LOT better for it!

If I still vape in 6 month.... I'm fine with that! It's a lot better than smoking

Get an inhaler )or some ghastly nicotine gum) to get you over the hump- they are more effort than an e-cig so a hassle to use and you would more naturally wean yourself off.

I could only cope with coming off via Zyban, but it's too late for that now, you need to go on it two weeks before you quit.

If you carry on try the herbs St John's Wort, that will boost seratonin and dopamine levels and help replace the nicotine hit.

Good luck.

Thank you all for the replies, e cigs are not for me. I have a addictive personality so the only way to stop smoking properly is to just never take another puff. I'm fine with that.

At 35 ill have the lungs of a no smoker (like it never happened) that's all the motivation I need!

need a badge or something saying I'm temporarily a prick, do not talk to me, if the world ends tomorrow...so what. Not liking my new found anger but apperantly just got to get through the two weeks which I will no drama!

My advice it don't tey the nicotine replacement or the vaping, ride it out, it will get better, definatly need to keep your mind occupied. Or even eat (you could always lose a bit of weight later) when you get to two weeks it'll be a lot easier, stick in there and best of luck! I stopped last year as a New Years resalution and ain't looked back

I'm killing it, riding this one right out!! Go no intentions of smoking again. 7 days and 19 minutes so far! Didn't think I'd be able to do it and I'd be smoking til I'm old and wrinkly! Got this. Give it up whilst yiu can, I'm just mad I never did it years ago.. guess I just never educated myself years ago! What a horrible addiction to have and to try and conquer!
