No. I can go months without sex if I feel like it. I don't think about sex all the time. sex has a very low priority in my life. For me it's about relaxation and is a bit of a treat. if that makes me an addict then ok I'll freely admit to it but I don't think it does, so I won't. |

Being addicted to drugs is obviously harmful but being addicted to sex isn't! Unless it stops you living a normal life |

No. I don't crave sex or sweat and shake when I don't get it. I may think about sex I have had and want it again but I can go without for long periods of time and not be bothered about it |

I don't think I'm a actual sex addict but I am possibly addicted to the liberation of the lifestyle... Addicted as it I would find it hard to transition back to a life without it. I could do it, I know I would find it difficult though as the lifestyle makes up a high proportion of my social life by my own choice. |

There are probably a few on here. Having been married to one for eight painful years it is so destructive and unless dealt with can lead to all sorts of nasty sequelae. Being a sex addict doesn't mean you have sex all the time it means sex has a skewed value in the addicts mind. It can become mixed up with control issues and most sex addicts have used prostitutes, escorts etc to be in control. They often have an overwhelming need to be admired and will seek out sexual episodes (often cyber) with partners who they wouldn't look at twice for a normal relationship. They don't care if they are fat sixty and ugly as sin as long as they go along with the sexual innuendo and verbal/cyber sex. Does that sped scribe all the people on here ?  |

No it doesn't although it may describe some. Possible some on here are stopping from being as you are describing because they can get what they need in a more safer way by swinging? |

I think we all like to Live in a world we feel comfortable With If we,re normal, along with Personality and character playing a Big part but again "normally" sex will Come in to our lives somewhere, there Has to be a few levels or categorys Where you could class someone a addict More than another person surely, the First one being a nymphomaniac for a Female not sure what you would call That for a male at that level of sex Drive perhaps very highly sexed, even Someone just below that or more I,m Sure would struggle without a meet Every week or more, generally speaking Thank god for natural relief as it Works for me and has done for years on And off but being a single guy the Company side I miss and not just for sex either..  |

Why is a big question and I think the root of any addiction is similar. The physical need of sex for me is intense and regular, I am hypersexual (or in old money a nymphomaniac). The acting out of porn/perving/sex/wanking satisfies it for usually short periods. It's my only vice - I eat clean, drink clean, live clean, just fuck filthy lol. I signed up for a sex addiction program last year. My friends joke I should get a refund. Sometimes I deal with it well, other times not and there are worse addictions to have. |

I like sex but I'm not addicted I have limited times i can meet due to a busy home and work life sometimes I can go weeks without sex, not through choice  but I just get on with life and make the most of the time I do have to meet |

I feel the word addiction needs to be clarified on this, I enjoy music and also enjoy a drink, they are required to function but add value to my perception of life. there is a price to be paid in hearing loss and liver damage, but both will probably be OK till I have no further need for them, I am not addicted to music or booze. I just enjoy them.
Sex is the same I quite enjoy a fair quantity of of sex but not sufficient to do too much harm.sure I could be studying and amassing wealth in the time I am having sex... but what for? |

Procreation demands a type of addiction, love is a chemical Oxytocin. We are addicted the minute we reach sexual maturity, whether it be every day or once every few months we need it. Let's not forget some people get a sexual thrill just doing a job. A typical example once knew a traffic cop who said he loved the job ( got is jollies in work). I'm not a sex addict but enjoy the feeling that sex gives me - it's all about the adrenalin or Oxytocin. I get the same feeling when I'm racing - the same rush, being lost in that moment in time, and feeling sated afterwards.

As i posted before sex addiction is often more about control than the desire for sex. sex can just be the avenue one achieves that control. when the behaviors (sexting, using porn, cyber sex as well as physical sex) start to become more important and time consuming than normal behavior, financial implication from using escorts maybe meaning no money for mortgage or when relationships end because the actvity is discovered, thats when its sex addiction  |
