Seeing as every other man on here is a personal trainer lol. Thought id ask if anyone has had much experiance with fasted training. I've read that is burns fat quicker as your body has no fuel to use.

Tried it this morning. Last are at 5pm yesterday and did my workout at 9am for an hour. Found it hard but think that was also probably because I've had 3 weeks away. Did manage probably 90% of what I wanted to do.

So... Fasted training? Better or worse?

I'm not going to comment for others but personally I've fasted a total of 7 days for the past 9, and found that training, particularly cardio actually felt a lot EASIER on an empty stomach, I do get bouts of mild dizziness and tiredness in between though, so be careful if you decide to try it.

Think it's more a bodybuilders tool for shedding excess water and last bits of fat prior to competition. I'll stand to be corrected if anyone has evidence to the contrary.

I wouldn't personally use it, prefer to be fuelled before a session.

You exercise in the evening though don't you? I don't think I could go all day. X

Well yes I do, so the tiredness can actually be useful. On Saturday I trained during the afternoon instead and found the hunger later in the evening was very unpleasant, but I was able to blunt it with a hot drink.

I managed 4 when I started, had a day off, then did another 3 before I ate again yesterday.

No wonder you're losing weight.

For the purpose of this post I meant fasting in the morning until after you exercise then eating afterward.

I always find that I exercise better if I haven't eaten for at least 2 hours beforehand.

The land of grey peas and bacon

I cannot fast my body can't handle it and I end up moody and sick...it's not good on your body to do it for long periods of time

I'm very aggressive when it comes to fat loss, I'd rather have an intense few weeks of dieting and regain my definition quickly, than draw it out over several months gently, but fasting can be dangerous and it's not something I'd recommend to just anyone, it's something I've practiced and built up to steadily over the years.

Fasted cardio as soon as you wake up is the best way to burn fat in my opinion .

Take a few bcaa's and a black coffee and get on that cardio !

What's bcaa? And yeah that what I mean exercising in the morning then eating later? Just been reading a lot about it lately and seems to be very beneficial in lots of ways.

Used to call it bonk training.

Train hard first thing in morning after overnight fast maybe a black coffee before hand.

Used to do all my swimming this way.

Personally tho I prefer to train at end of day leaving at least two hrs gap prefer three after food.

Phsycolocicaly I like to know I have enough fuel for a hard workout, even though I know I have plenty of fat reserved for it lol

Long extended duration cardio of moderate intensity is best for fat burning but can be boring.

Like 6 hr bike ride

Three hr runs

But the current fad of high intensity is ok and works but the body will adapt once it gets used to it.

Variety is the key.

A martial art or boxing

Added to weekly program will work wonders mixed in with cardio, resistance, stretching good diet, plenty of sleep and lots of hard sex

It's a myth really there's nothing to prove fasted cardio is any better than normal cardio as you have to eat straight after , think it's just different bodies different things , but this conversations always in the gym and it's never been proven

branched chained amino acids!

Just reduces the breakdown of muscle tissue ... The caffeine will promote burning into fat tissue alongside the low glycogen as you have fasted !

Fasted cardio as soon as you wake and have breakfast after you finish

Catabolic is when you burn muscle tissue...

Which isn't what you want lol !

You can get it in powder too , around £30 i'd say.

you can take BCAA`s as tabs or a powdered form you can add to a drink and sip during your fasted workout

they are actually cheap and one of the few supps that i pay for

catabolic is just ur body eating into muscle tissue to survive

Thanks chaps.

I'm not really a breakfast person and 3 days a week I get my workout in before 9am so I'd rather do it that way then eat a huge brunch.
