...or does everything seem louder in the dark?

I'm not having a mental breakdown about monsters or anything, don't worry xD

I had my light on, watching netflix with my headphones in. Paused it to turn the light off and then when I hit play it just seemed much louder.

Tell me honestly, have I got a screw loose??

Maybe because our brains aren't focusing on sight, our hearing gets better.

But that doesn't explain why dropping a spoon in the kitchen sink at 3am sounds like a bomb has gone off! Haha

There's likely a small amount of merit in what you're saying. Usually, if a sense is hindered (in this case, vision) - the other senses seem to work a little harder to compensate.

Think of blind people and their hearing, etc

Stop using big-ass metal spatulas to stir your tea!

Have you considered getting a sink made of foam? Clearly there'd be no other disadvantages with that decision...

But nah, it is totally, very annoying when it happens. Just crept downstairs and every door creak, cupboard opening and breath feels amplified x

It's because that sense us heightened as you can't see in the dark x
