Its funny how there is a lot of buzz about this year on the internet. Mainly because of Back To The Future part 2. What the buzz is because they believe this movie has predicted the future. Well the technology mostly. Sure we may not have hoverboards and flying cars yet but we do have some technology today that is in the movie.
I must say that I do find it interesting but I seriously doubt movies like BTTF p2 can predict the future. The way I see it, I think they just give people (who are scientists and inventors) ideas on how to make the technology a reality.
If you think about it, if movies like BTTF p2 and TV programmes like Star Trek were never made, we probably wouldn't have mobile phones, flat screen TVs or even the internet. |

I rather think film and TV makers are at the end of the science cycle.
More likely to be a science fiction writer who's come up with some fanciful notion which often later comes to fruition. |

Most inventions today are just a progression of what we already have

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
All it takes is an idea. The films provided some of the ideas and a lot of the design. The techy, engineery, sciency people did the hard work.
I still want a jaunting belt from The Tomorrow People (old version not the new American one).
