Bit of a heavy topic!....
They were all responsible for millions of deaths. If you add up the numbers Hitler was probably responsible for fewer than the other two. |

They say Stalin as he killed over 15 million of his own people. |

Personally I don't really believe in the evil individual. All those mentioned were only able to do the evil they did because millions of other people let their personal (evil) emotions and fears override their abilities to find sensible solutions to difficult problems

It's a fine line.
Hitler was liked by most of his friends and family an honourable war veteran,a tee total vegetarian animal lover with a passion for painting, if somebody has curtailed his extreme views at an early age who knows how he'd have turned out.
Stalin had a twisted ideological sense of communism, probably from the realisation that people wouldn't follow but should be forced to for their own good, he certainly transformed Russia, built vast industry in a time that capitalism never could and used it to have the greatest single influence over Nazi Germany and Japan, without them the west would have probably lost ww2.
Chairman Mao has a very polarised position in history his policies probably killed more Chinese than the other two killed full stop and even with that he still has a high regard by most Chinese people for his ability to bring about the end to constant civil war improved medical and education and women's rights!.
The odd thing about most revolutionary's is they mostly come from wealthy backgrounds and not poor ones? |

"Thatcher hands down. "
I think it takes a little more than just not doing what you think is right to be classed as evil. But if you can show me the concentration camps and murdered political opponents of Thatcher I'll happily agree with you. |

If anyone is genuinely interested in this kind of stuff, try a book called 'Talk of the Devil : encounters with 7 dictators'
Whilst it isn't a comprehensive biography of each, it does provide insight into their worlds via interviews with either them or their widows.
It covers :
Idi Amin
Jean-Bedel Bokassa
General Jaruzelski
Baby Doc Duvalier
Colenel Mengitsu Haile Mariam
The widow of Enver Hoxha and
The widow of Slobodan Milosovic
I thought it made for a very interesting read |

"Hitler wasn't a vegetarian. Not that it matters much to this thread but it was part of the propaganda to make him seem more nice. " yes your right I meant to write non smoker. Of course the point of my post was that to people that knew Hitler well they all said he was a likeable enough chap with many good talents that's not to condone his crimes but an insight into human to human relationships!.
The only connections I've ever made about nutjob dictator's is that they were all educated nearly all came from wealthy backgrounds and nearly all lost siblings at a young age!.
So at least we know we're safe on that front from chavs |
