We have a traveller site here, instead of caravans theyve now got amazing mobile homes, all clean and friendly, the young ones mix well at school. There's a few teenagers that are a bit gobby but then so are a lot of teenagers.
I know this isn't everyone's experience but it is mine. |

True but we can only speak from experience, not about people we have yet to meet. |

I have lived on the road a fair bit in the past and consequently i have met lots in my time .... nice folks on the whole and often much more helpful than house dwellers if you're in difficulty of some kind |

Some I've met have been terrible and almost evil, others have been absolutely great human beings. I just take people on face value and experience generally |

I've met several travellers at work.
Some are horrible people who have little respect and are very demanding, rude and entitled.
Some are wonderful people who are really polite and grateful for my assistance.
Swings and roundabouts! |

I was on a train once and three traveller kids (5-12) needed to use a mobile phone to call their mum so they could get picked up. Everyone they asked said no, it was really sad as they'd just be left at a train station in the cold. Even my ex said I shouldn't have let them use my phone as they'd probanly steal it. Sad stereotype |

There are a lot of travellers around where I used to live, some good and some bad, but you can say that about people from council estates to people who live in the posh area's, on the whole if you were polite to them they were polite to you, buy them a beer in the pub they buy you one back, there use to be a massive gathering once a year and I think from the number plates a lot came from France, they left the place cleaner than when they arrived |

My experience meeting travellers is no different than meeting others. I take them as i find them. For the ones i have met i couldnt say anything negative as they were lovely friendly and very nice people.
However I am also aware of how the small minority give travellers a bad name but then again this trait is no different to society in general. In short its " live and let live" for me.

Depends on the individual people. When I was growing up my parents run a pub and the travellers caused all sorts of issues.
However my uncle married a traveller and her family are amazing. Nothing like the likes you see on tv! They are well spoken, well dressed and they are totally stunning too. |

I went to school with Irish travellers.
I had a thing with an Irish traveller.
I'm not agin the idea.
You have got to stand apart from the crowd.
Ignore the people trying to drag you down. |

never met any but everything depends on the person for me. some of my best friends people avoid because they appear dodgy but they are so lovely and genuine. people judge too much on look and not experience |

People are people... We all meet the good n bad .. Thats life!
We are both sociable people and respond to others as they do us. Living in London the mixture of people is huge... If a group of people are seen as bad ... Then some act as they are thought of... Others know respect and give and recieve it back... Good Luck and enjoy! |

Met and known quite a few..... worked on lots of sites where cables, metal, lead, copper, and anything else that isn't bolted down has been stolen, even to the extent of putting people's lives at risk... all on CCTV and all travellers and gypsies.
Have played pool with one in particular who kept wanting to play for money... eventually I agreed, won £2,500 off him before he gave up, and he refused to pay, threatening me.
Fly tip everywhere they go and don't pay their taxes...
Many people would say they're not fit to eat with pigs, but I would disagree with that.
Have I got a good word for them? Yes, several. |

"I'm not sure Travller and swinging culture are compatible.
why?"
The Traveller community is very much based around one woman/one man relationships. I would be surprised to see a Traveller couple on here as I suspect swinging would be frowned upon within the community. |

perhaps but one could make the same assumption about other cultures and some religious people..
not sure kinky fuckery recognises any such groups.. |

Isn't swinging frowned upon in a lot of communities? Why would travellers be any different to anyone else?
To answer your question OP, there are good and bad in all walks of life. I make up my own mind on the individual and speak as I find no matter who they are or where they come from. |

I have dealt with travelers over the last 20 year in my business, and in the early days they we sound, they would come in order the goods haggle a bit but pay in full, these day's all you get is abuse, there is a big diff between the elders of the traveling community and the siblings, I still see some of the elders but not as much as I used too, we now have a policy in place for travelers ie special prices that we quote them so when they haggle we k ow we Sri make money. So no they are not all bad, but the younger siblings are a nightmare, and I have not gone into detail the mess they leave when the have left the places they choose to park up for a few weeks before they are forced to move on |

You are right, however the strong moral code within the Traveller community is likely to be a deterent to many people who would like to swing and therefore why I would be suprised to see many members of Fab from that section of the population. |

I wasn't. I was merely pointing out (in my opinion) he might be having a laugh with the mock Irish! |

I must admit that was my first thought when I read his post...
I must admit that ones that use to come into my parents petrol stations were nothing but lying, stealing, con artists... The ones I have met through work are no better...
However I try to treat everyone fairly until given a reason not to... |

It's merely relaying the accent.
I get texts from some relatives with the same.
