Good Sense of Humour. What is it to you?

Lost count of the number of people who say it and yet THEY can't understand why others don't find the things they laugh at funny.

Because they lack understanding they label people as humourless or miserable AND they fail to see the irony in what they are saying.

So .........tell me .....What IS a G.S.O.H to YOU?

I know what mine is x

Somebody who laughs like an idiot at stuff like Monty Pythons Flying Circus, Airplane, Naked Gun ..

Oh and best of all, somebody who can take the piss out of themselves

To me, a GSOH is billy connolly. futurama. simpsons.

Also, to me, people who say they have a gsoh are like people who say "I'm a bit crazy, me" - they arent, they just can't think of anything better to say about themselves.

To reason that you "have a gsoh" is to label those who differ as not having one.

I would agree with that.

To me though, I love a piss take and someone who can laugh at themselves, I love silly humour as well as dry humour, plus although some people don't like sarcasm, me and the OH love it .....all in all, laugh at most things

I have a very morbid, and also childish sense of humour

I can also easily laugh at myself,as long as the person that is making fun of me does'nt get offended when I give it back, this always confuses me when they do that

I think on here its sometimes hard to see others sense of humour or understand it straightaway, reading words is'nt the same as being next to someone and seeing body language, listening to tone of voice ect

It is exceptionally easy to be offensive, and be offended on a forum, in email etc. usually the person typing hears what they say in their head and it's funny but in reality it reads like an angry cat looking for blood.

And smilies, really do not help as they just tend to add insult to injury!

I am rarely offended as I believe I can choose to be outraged or not. For me - that is the beginnings of a true sense of humour. Humour has little to do with jokes and laughter xx

Unless of course im watching Tim Minchin, Eddie Izzard, Bill Bailey OR anyone from Stand up for the Weekend.

Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay make me laugh out loud as does Catherine Tate.

I like people who laugh at themselves but if it becomes too self depreciating it stops being funny.

People who don't intend to be funny also make me laugh out loud ie Judge Judy when she's ripping someone a new one: she's hilarious!

Having a bit of wit and the ability to make me laugh, and the ability to laugh as him/herself.

I am not too good at dry sense of humour, as it is at times too clever for me to understand and appreciate!

Humour can vary a great deal from person to person, there is no"right" sense of humour, just different taste in my view.

However, I would define a good sense of humour across different cultures and belief systems as the ability to smile/ laugh in the face of adversity, and also at the readiness to laugh at one's own expense; the rest eg whether it is Monty Python or slapstick or whatever.. well that is just personal preference.

PS I do rather like Granny's

little house on the praire

Peter kaye only has to open his mouth and im in stitches also paul o'grady does it for me. The worst kind of humour is those that think their funny, i dont like comdedians that just stand there and tell joke after joke. Some people are just born funny

i cant define it for me as humour comes in on various levels ...some things "amuse" where i smile ....somethings bring a short laff i cant really stop

occasionally i have laffed at something and literally gone dizzy cus i cant get my breath.i got no particular type but dry quick with really rattles my ribs

"I have come to accept that people who feel they need to tell you they have a good sense of humour.... won't have one."

Agreed. Along with "genuine", "good looking", "good at oral", this is one of those phrases that should never be self-applied.

It works slightly better if, in the first line, you say that the horse asks for a Whisky.
