I've not been into a library since I was little. I haven't even set foot into the new library in Brum....which I now understand that half the staff are losing their jobs. What's the point in building a swish new library and then loose half the staff.. |

Libraries will soon become a thing of the past as local councils try to save money. With books online/in electronic format, and with most people having the interweb thingy for research, they are one of the places that can realistically be trimmed back. Shame, as I love libraries, usually a peaceful place to sit and read and while away a few spare hours. |

With the advent of e-readers, it is likely to spell the demise of many libraries as well as bookshops, in the same way that music downloads have largely replaced CDs. I guess it's a generation thing. |

i think the demise of libraries would be quite sad .. for alot of people it is more than actually reading a book but also offers social interaction in the same way that churches do ...you dont need to be knee deep in religion to find the service of your local church important |

"Love libraries !!! You can smell knowledge when you go in one !
I think that will be the absence of deodorant that you can smell! "
Libraries do tend to attract some aromatic characters. Warm, clean and free with toilets, newspapers and books. |
