I hope they get all the people off. I have seen the damage a fire aboard a ship causes, terrible to see.

that it was allowed to get to the point it has is sheer incompetence and possibly criminal negligence..

You can't believe how quickly it can spread. Its a fire in a box with air conditioning ducting throughout. Most of the superstructure is aluminium which can explode when melted and contaminated with water.

Most ships have systems to fight small fires but once out of control its abandon ship.

According to the ship's manifest all official passengers and crew are accounted for, so four of the five were stowaways, how many more I wonder? They'll only find out much later.

have travelled on ferries in that part of the world and they were pretty lax on checking tickets etc, especially foot passengers..

somebody needs to be held to account..

the BBC were reporting today that during a recent inspection there were area's of concern to do with safety but it was still allowed to sail..

Pleased to see that the Captain was the last off, that's not always the case as in the Achille Lauro and Costa Concordia.
