A hook up with a total stranger may get you that bang - but what then? It'll be like a meet on any other day of the year. And there's no guarantee your company will stick around after the sex or actually be up for conversation - or even be on the same wavelength humour wise.
At a club there'll be as much social banter and laughs as at a vanilla pub/club - with the added potential of that 'bang' you seek too.
If you don't want to spend NYE alone there are things you can do to prevent it.
