Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I enjoyed that. Nothing really unusual - transformational, inspirational teacher for a bunch of young people at a school with the uplifting ending that makes you smile.

It took me right back to that hot summer of 1976.

What were you up to then?

No names, but did you have a transformational, inspirational teacher that took you and your class on a magical journey?

No I didn't, they were all a pretty dull bunch who managed to take a young girl eager to learn about physics and chemistry and bore her nearly to death with it.

Has a biology teacher...Mrs Reid...when she started talking you were compelled to listen. Her joy of everything was contagious.

It was the year I went to secondary school and I remember all of them. Four of them inspired me and I take what they taught through to my life now.

Those that teach with joy always leave their mark.

Please no names, to protect the innocent.

I remember that perfect summer long days riding a Raleigh Chopper, evenings meeting girls who were baby sitting and the sweet smell of sticky fingers. It was my first year at an all boys school, you could still be caned in fact they had a special caning desk and put the fear of god into us daily.

We didn't have corporal punishment, just a deputy headmistress with a really fierce stare. We had to stand whenever a teacher came into the room and she came in when a wasp was buzzing around. Someone was trying to get it to leave her, with the usual wasp flail motions, and she just stared at that poor girl until she froze on the spot with the wasp crawling up her neck.

1976 was a really hot summer. I went to Ilfracombe with some of my mates.

I got off with a Geordie lass named Sharon. Hadn't got a Scooby what she said to me and I bet she couldn't understand by black country drawl either

little house on the praire

It was the long hot summer, the year I started secondary school. We couldn't go back until October as no water.

We had a weird teacher who was allegedly into boys.

About October this year he was arrested for historical crimes, however, the crimes he was arrested for took place about 8 years AFTER I left school.

He's now not being sentenced until June next year as new evidence has come to light. Its really pretty scary as there could be a number of victims if you base it on the rumours we heard.

If only we weren't so naive back then he could of been stopped.

We had one teacher who had an affair with a upper sixth former but that's it.

Yours is scary. If the rumours were there then I assume adults heard them and chose to ignore them.

I was being taught by nuns in 76 and I was just about to go into my favourite teachers class. After her no other teacher captured my imagination and I left the education system at 14. I wish I could have had her when I was older. She past away last year and hundreds of ex pupils turned out for her. A truly wonderful women. She caned me once, but I probably deserved it.

No one deserves caning but having an inspirational teacher is special.
