Getting your digital affairs in order

I hate to break this to you.... We're all going to die. Sorry.
Has anyone actually got anything in place about their digital world? Stuff like Facebook, Fab, Flickr, etc. Or maybe a web address using your name and have just a picture of your tombstone with the exact location of where you are buried.
Or is it no longer your problem? |

I have a contingency plan in place.
One of my partners has an envelope that contains the password for my laptop - from that he can access every other service I use online in order to shut my accounts down.
My parents have sealed instructions in an envelope that instruct them to send my laptop to my partners address and his phone number so that he can begin to let me friends know. |

Mine is very basic. My friend will ignite all my digital media. My son is aware and at 27 he asks no questions lol.
My online presence will be there forever more on the ether but no one will regonise my eyes no more |

I'll be buried with my phone. If I'm given notice before my passing I will send anything worth saving for posterity to my friend,so she can have the benefit of it, and then close all my accounts. My sister will probably have a memorial post on Facebook to let people know I'm gone. I have a USB that I will destroy, don't want that getting into anyone's hands |

I haven't written a will. I need to write a will. And i've been aware of this for several years.
This might give you an idea of how much thought I've given to what happens to my online presence when I'm dead! |

If you don't write a will then your family will get everything and Crystal will get nothing. If that doesn't motivate you I don't know what will.
My sister will take care of my stuff.

My business is almost entirely online. If nothing else I would like some Art charities to benefit from the royalty income that I get every month. |

AI systems will take over my accounts, and in turn take over the world, so I will not only become immortal but will rule the universe in centuries to come..... |

The scary thing is that you've probably programmed this in somewhere already.

There is no 'everything' and my death in service she is the named beneficiary.
My only concern is about my funeral. |

I have quite a little digital footprint, to be honest. I share my eBay account with the family. I don't have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. I am no longer a regular visitor to any forum other than this one, and given fab's pretty comprehensive privacy conditions, I can see my account just fading into insignificance. I keep files (files I prefer stayed private I mean!) stored remotely, not on my computers hard drive but on the cloud. And I don't really care what happens to them after I die as long as people close to me don't see them. Some hacker chap somewhere can jerk off all he wants to photos of dead me if he likes
I trust my family will not look through my phone's WhatsApp messages in case of my sudden demise. Thankfully none of them are particularly tech-savvy (I don't think my parents know what WhatsApp is). I never keep lewd photos on my phone either. As it's a smartphone, the software will likely go wrong in a year or two anyway!
This is all a bit morbid though, isn't it? |

Knowing my luck, i'll finally get a message the day after i pop my clogs.
Then be labelled a timewaster for not turning up.
" Thanks for making me laugh out loud! MVAH! |

"Or is it no longer your problem? " It is no longer my problem if I'm dead. That's my attitude so far.
But I much like that you start this thread. And I am very impressed with some of the answers.
I like the thread because i feel it is so important we talk about death too, different aspects. There is still so much taboo and that is ever so unhealthy. |

My daughter has my passwords.. she will take my lap top and take it back to factory settings.
Phones too.
face book can stay as it is. I still post on friends FB for birthdays and other times with memories or Photos even tho they have gone. Be nice to think my friends would do the same.
No one will come on here so one day if I suddenly stop coming in something will have occured.
I do sometimes wonder what would happen if I had a stroke or developed Alzheimers and couldnt remember how to get into my lap top any more
