A Christmas box for the tradesmen

the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands

Is there an expectation that traditional protocol of leaving something for your domestic staff, the gardner, or even the milkman continues to flourish?

Do you put out anything for the people that service your household? and if so, what?

I left my cleaner a box of luxury biscuits, some belgium chocolates and a cash bonus of a weeks wages....its Christmas after all

"Tradesmen? Domestic Staff? I must be living in a very different world to you!! "

That was my initial thought, but I think the op is visually impaired so needs domestic staff etc...I could be wrong.

Hit the nail right on the head there Miss_Tress, I certainly have those etc etc needs ; Yup, blind as a bat, so having a cleaner and a gardner is essential, just need my personalisation budget to cover my other needs-)

Maybe Legs! but can you not remember the tradition? OK possibly not domestic staff, but the coal man, the chimney sweep, leaving a little something for the paper boy? or is it a long forgotten and very dead tradition?

Titz Towers, North Notts

I allow the minions to have some black jacks and fruit salads. Their annual Christmas knees up in my extinct volcano hideout is cancelled this year following last years accidental rocket launch. The least they could have done was to untie my clothesline from it first, as it had a weeks worth of washing on

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I was hoping to give the binmen a tip. If I forget to put my bin out they just grab it off the drive and empty it anyway.

However, I leave so early for work that I never see them.

Still I am off for a while so I might just catch them.

Leave a box of roses out for the bin men and postman.

Live in the middle of no where and I'm sure they think I'm a pain in the arse

I used to give the bin men something but they no longer take out the bins and if you forget: they don't empty it.

They'll get diddly squat from me!

How do you go about chatting on the forums then fella? Someone read/type for you? A fab p.a if you will?

Or am I miles off? Am guessing there's a ton of programmes for computers these days that can do that type of jazz for you?

with you on the binmen front.... they pulled our black (main) bin collection forward to 22nd Dec (Monday), and now won't collect it until Thursday 15th Jan... nearly a month.
