Getting well into hip hop lately
Liking the sounds of, B.I.G, Nate dog, wu tang clan, big daddy Kane, Pete rock and got loads of a compilation CD.
Just had my subs upgraded in car too and some of the big daddy Kane tunes sounds awesome, insane amounts of bass |

NWA's greatest hits regularly gets aired in the car as well as Biggies Ready To Die album, two classic 'rap' albums I couldn't do without. These can easily be followed by The Sex Pistols or Eva Cassidy depending on my mood.

Surgery awsome song.
Back then tho it was split into different types.
South coast
East coast
Rap
Hip hop
Breaking
Electro
Must say I was always more of an electro fan.
That said loved all of it.
I still have a ticket stub from seeing afrika Bambaataa and the soul sonic force. At the lyceum wellington street, London.
Saturday 13th October 1984
Damn I am old. |

"Grand master flash and the furious five, have all the electro albums too "
Circa 1983 ones? Did you watch the film too?
I had all the electro albums too - listened to them the other day, on cassette no less

Still got them all on vinyl in the loft and on cassette somewhere. Street sounds electro. |

Can't remember the date to be honest but it's electro 1-14 I think, will have to dig them out and have a look, all vinyl, apart from 2, that's on cassette. |

That's not really old school hip hop to be fair.
Big Daddy Kane
Run DMC
Public Enemy
Eric B & Rakim
Grandmaster Flash
Afrika Bambataa
Sugarhill
Funky Four Plus One
Ultramagnetic MC's
You've described second wave, or even third wave acts.

Lol yes ahh the memories.
School playgrounds consisted of boys bodypopping/breakdancing to the beat with a stereo someone had sneaked in (we had to rely on beatboxing if no stereo available!), whilst the girls 'double dutched' with two skipping ropes

Don't listen to it as much as I used to but have been known to bop my head to Ras Kass, Chino XL, Ohene and Tech N9ne...
From the UK, I've enjoyed the subject matter in Akala's songs, particularly he's efforts during Fire in the Booth:
