Marrakech. Ok it's Africa but still only a 4 hour flight. Amazing place with a mix of French, African and Arabic cultures. Dirt cheap if you stay inside the city walls (which is way better than the hotels outside). Virtually no crime and crime against tourists is unheard of. Incredible food - should I go on? Only downside is that it's hard to get a drink if that is a consideration. |

Florence!
There's where I would go for a few days. Not sure about this time of the year though, as I don't like the heat!
Been there twice already, and I would definitely go back again and again!
Of the places I have visited in Europe, it is probably my third favourite cities in Europe after London and Paris.

thanks everyone for your suggestions , there are certainly a few there i'd not thought off...even if A&K is trying to kill me off with the moscow smog
those of you who know me ( and theres a few on this thread ) will know that any amount of walking is problematic for me , but also that im stubborn and wont let it stop me doing things ... so a small city or a break in the countryside , as well as the opps for good photography is going to suit me best.
ive got a shorttlist now to hand over, and then wait til sunday to see where i end up !
xx |

With the £ being strong at the moment, anywhere within the EURO zone you'll benefit.
Barcelona/Cork/Rome are within easy reach, that said there are some fantastic places to visit within the UK, your certainly not limited to choice.
Flights are cheap to, where ever you decide, enjoy!

Rome or Paris I would go for.
If you stay near the main station in Rome you can get a tube or bus to the tourist sites that are most visited so the walking can be limited.
Again, if you stay in the centre of Paris most sites are close by, but transport is there if you need it.

Then try Buenos Aires. Wander around at night and down most little streets youll have everyone out tangoing. Young, old, all impromptu. Sat and watched them for hours.
And they also have some very very good looking men. And wonderful ice cream. |
