As much as I'm a ford lover throw ad throw the early ka aren't the best check round the filler caps and the filler neck for rot. The engines are pretty bullet proof but they should be im sure noal fitted 1 to the ark. If you must get a cheap 1 then the auction is as good a place as any

here and there, thereabouts

I live my fords but think they are overpriced rot boxes. People know that young drivers can insurer them so charge a small fortune unfortunately. Rust is a killer on these and real value of the cars means no point spending hundreds in welding

Bugs

If you get vauhall do there own insurance for there cars for young new driver and a corsa was by far the cheapest for him but I live in manchester so 1 of the worst places to get insurance. Have you thought about micras

i have been looking on the net seen a couple not to far away from me, will have to go take a look, they do seem to suffer from the rust a bit, but for a first car that will probably get a few bumps and scrapes from a young driver it will do the job nicely

not a bad car , but prone to rot in filler cap area and big bumpers hide rust around back end to lift up boot carpets and poke around

1 LTR petrol is gutless so ends up getting a caining

Reminds me of a conversation in a pub chatting to a woman just after these cars came out and before I'd heard of them....

Me "What car do you drive?"

Her "A Ford Ka"

Me "what type of Ford car?"

Her "a blue one"

Me "but what is it"

Her "a Ka"

Me "I know it's a car, but what type?"

Her "I've already told you, a blue one, are you a retard?"

Me "well it's not me who doesn't know which type of Ford car you drive..."

You get the picture

I know a lovely little Ford Fiesta that's for sale.

You know it has the usual wear and tear

A few scratches here

A few scuffs there

Oh and it has a 1.8 ford puma engine in it.

Let me know if your interested

Cannock

There is one for sale at the side of the road on the A5 near cannock. I know the owner he's a mechanic, buys cars and does them up to sell for profit but i'm sure he's selling it for under £1000. Not looked at it myself only drove past it on the road, it looks in good condition.

Had a slight prang a few years ago in my Alfa spider 3.2 v6 which put it off the road for 4 months. They gave me a ka as a courtesy car. Worst 4 months EVER lol still shake at the thought of that little shit box on casters

I'd dream of having a ka as a courtesy car last year !! I got a corsa ecoflex, now that was dreadful, also had an Astra 1.6 sri which equally as bad. I'd never have a Vauxhall based on my experience with those two cars.

Cheeseville, Somerset

I saw a Ka have an accident at about 30mph.

The only car I've ever seen look more crumpled was a 2CV.

I wouldn't want any of my family driving one. From the summary of the Euro NCAP rating:

"The Ka gains most of its score from side impact and was particularly poor in protecting the driver’s legs from serious injury. Although we have awarded three stars the Ka only just gets into this rating."

A

Now that's a car! Do you have any idea how rare the Spider 3.2 was/is?

I'm looking for one for the summer... Probably end up with a 3.0 though, which I've had before.

I did banger car racing with my son and some of his work colleagues and friends, the idea is that you buy an MOT failure and do it up, one of them had a K reg Ford Ka and you could put you hand through the rust through the floor of the car and it ran almost both lengths. Plus the exhaust was falling off and when you watch 3 men push a car over, it kind of puts you off so don't bother, far better cars around than a Ford Ka

Yes I was. I was told it was the very last UK registered 3.2. Came with an auto delta hardtop, lowered autodelta springs, aluminium bezels and 17" ti style alloys. It was phenomenal.

they didn't make the ka till 1996 so it wouldnt have been a k plate as thats 92/3 unless it was a private plate
