Did you Just like the look or has it a meaning to you ???. I love looking at people's body art and on holiday I got to see some full arms and Big pieces on there bodys . I sound like a right perv, One lady had wings on her back and some others had some very dark pieces with skulls and lots of things to do with afterlife . I do think why did they pick that .?? I would love one but until I know what I will not have one. Tell you I would love to go ask , but they may think I am weird so I dont. As I see some as pieces as art and would love to know who done there tattoos.

It has a huge meaning to me and is only personal to me.

I never understand when people ask 'what tattoo shall I get'.

Only that person who asked can answer - going off my set of rules.

Both of mine are very personal to me. I really want another couple as well that will be special to me and my son.

They don't have to have any meaning at all. Some do, some don't. Tattoos are also tribal in origin, so often you'll find people into a certain type of music might have similar leanings where their tattoos are concerned.

I have two full sleeves and some on my legs, and they mean various things having been done in various places around the world, at various times in my life. To attach meaning to all of them depends on the individual and what might be happening at that time in your life. A couple of mine are simply pretty pictures designed by friends.

Some people, especially people with lots, that them as a piece of art and not just something with meaning. I for example have no wording at all (I mean text) because I think it's clichéd and silly, but to other people it's meaningful.

Tattoos are very personal, and there's no right or wrong.

My BFF at the time was a tattooist so I let him practice on me. I do wish I didn't most of them but I don't care enough to get them removed. Plus I have a couple of Topor drawings which are pretty cool.

I have a fascination with Greek myth (Medusa tattoo) and religion...praying catholic lady, Buddha and Ganesh the Hindu elephant God of knowledge and wisdom & remover of all obstacles.

Also have a collared sub, which is pretty self explanatory

Manchester Area

My first was a simple tribal piece which I changed into something more meaningful, the second is one I keep adding to , all the others were done with meaning (children, pastimes, attitudes etc), now thinking long and hard what style to go for next and where, the maori or polynesian style is looking favourite at the moment

my first wasa small pretty swirly thing - didnt dare risk much - the 2nd one is a personal one after i lost a partner - but the song words arent just relevant to him now - and my last one is a phrase as a 50th pressie to me - 'ipse mihi semper' - always true to myself

I have only the one that's on my ribs. It's simple writing and says:

"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood"

Safe to say it has a lot of meaning to myself.

My tribal started as practise for my tattooists brother and just kinda grew...the dragon on my back because I thought it was pretty, I just liked the pic tbh, the piece on my chest is significant of a good friend of mine and peppa pig on my leg as an ex g.f's daughter picked it so various reasons really, some intensely personal, some just because. I like them all though so I'm happy with that

See my post above (which seems to have been ignored). Of course they're intriguing to look at, and it isn't weird at all.

As for the person saying colour tattoos are no good - with respect that's complete rubbish. I have loads of colour, done by some of the best tattooers around the world and so do many of my friends which are all incredible pieces of art. To say black & white are the only tattoos worth having, is simply incorrect and untrue.

Nearly all mine are colour and get more compliments than black ones.. Obviously they must not be good enough to use colour if they limit it as it takes a hell of a lot more skill to blend colours than it does black

It's nothing more than my own opinion, saying the artist isn't skilled enough to use colour is rather childish, that's down to their own style not to use colour nothing to do with skill level.

She raises a good point in my opinion. Not that it matters and this isn't a competition, but there IS more skill in using colour, blending colour, creating more difficult, detailed pieces quite often when using colour as opposed to just black. Having said that, there are also some extremely complex black ones out there as well so skill level is a moot point - detail and blending using colour is a slightly different skill to just using black though.

Lots of tattooers also have books, and art sales of their work which they do on both paper and canvass. You can just buy pieces that they've done. Try going to a tattoo convention, or do some Internet research. There are plenty of people out there who can provide you with 'flash' or actual art to buy.

I appreciate the skill involved in a complex colour tattoo, there is some brilliantly done colour pieces out there, still doesn't mean I like them. I can appreciate the piece but colour just doesn't float my boat whatsoever

My first was designed by one of my best friends . My second is a female butterfly candy skull which I chose in memory of my Mum as it's to do with All Souls Day and had her birth sign added in to be part of the skull too. I like them as they're very personal to me.

Only two of mine have sentiment behind them. I have a butterfly on my foot, in memory of the babies I lost.

The other one with sentiment is on my wrist. It is a butterfly, a bee and a flower. I had it done when my fiancé and I had been together a few months. He calls me his butterfly and I call him honey bee. The flower represents our future together.

Ok, I'll hand the sick buckets round now

I have 2 tattoos and they're both meaningful.

Phoenix on my back is dedicated to both my grandads who were both cremated. There's a pic of it on my profile.

Lyrics off a song "I fell apart but got back up again" which I relate to.

Cannot wait to have my next tattoo.

It took me years to decide to go under the needle and I did it for the first time this year. I always felt I would regret any design I had that didn't have huge personal meaning. So I waited, and waited, and pondered and waited. And eventually worked with a wonderful artist to design something perfect and personal.

I love it so much but don't think I'll be so precious again. I've seen so many designs that I love since I started that my attitude has changed to simply appreciating good tattoos as pieces of art. I'll be getting more, and won't be taking 5 years to decide what's next!

Both of mine have meaning to me. On my chest, I have the animal of my star sign, Aries, in a tribal design that I drew myself. On my back, I have GPS co-ordinates that match the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania that I summited for charity when I was just 18. It was an incredibly proud moment for me, so I wanted to preserve the memories

all down to the artists choice and own style, the shop is based in the centre of one of the uk's biggest cities where the rent will be sky high, and it's always booked up. They must be doing something right even if a huge % of the market is alienated.

I designed both my arms myself they have no meaning i just like Maori designs to put them together, my back is a picture I saw that I really liked so I took it and extended it so fill my back as the original pic was to small and my leg is a pic I just liked, none of my tattoos have meaning I just liked them so had them, my ex had a pic of our son tattooed on him when he died I found that a little tasteless to be honest, I don't get why people do things like that
