There's merits in both, all depends how well they're composed and taken.

B&W can sometimes look a bit more classy, But I like to see a mix of pictures as long as they are in focus

I think there's a place for both but I think you can't beat B&W for shear visual atmosphere.

I uploaded one black and white photo (quite similar to other uploads). That photo seems to get a bit more attention than average.

Beats me, but perhaps it is just more attractive of the artful-inclined!
