Japanese imports are monstrous the type Rs have even more aggressive cams

The glanza import with a mere 1.3 is a breed of its own

Personally I don't rate German cars at all they're over priced for what you get

A type R will make you smile more than a BMW any day.

I've got the 1.8 civic, wanted a type R but couldn't afford to fuel it to work 80 miles a day

they're great fun to drive with the way they Rev.

Mine produces 140bhp at 6800rpm and that's tame up to the type R I might be wrong but they red-line at 8000 or maybe 8500rpm

Are you buying new or used? If the latter, what age are you looking at?

And why BMW? What are you looking for from the car you want… looks, power, performance, magnetism (of the fanny kind)…… ??

I've got a 1.8 civic originally went in for a type R but couldn't fuel it 80 mile a day.

I've built it as an audio car at stage 1 it was hitting 140Db since then two JL audio W7 subwoofers have gone in with bigger amps and a line out driver sitting in front of the amp. So I reckon it's gotta be 145db + now

Next job is re-do the front end and get something in to stop the wibdscreen popping out

Ok, I was going to say the 4 series, which are very nice, but maybe a bit new. I had a 2012 Merc Coupe, ace to drive, nice inside, reasonable insurance too - I lease my cars and because it was due for a facelift next year, I didn't get another when I replaced. but will go back to them.

Depends what you want to do with it. If you want to play in it, then a E36 or E46 M3, preferably Alpina. Designed to play in. Quick rack as standard coz you will need it if you arse about. Had plenty, and actualy prefer E34 as it was better road car.

If you get a diesal, then get a egr and dpf delete and then have it mapped.

Will run so much better, be smoother, return better mpg and more importantly be alot quicker than the petrol alternative.

Ive got the 320d sport. Not sure how new your buying but the turbos do go on those a fair bit especially around the 80k miles mark. Make sure it's had regular services and oil changes else avoid. Also change the swirl flaps if you do get one

Is this just attempt to look flashy? Ultimately you can buy a Bmw from any minimum cost right through to £50/£60k so without knowing budget it's impossible.

Just bear in mind it's not just the cost of the car but also the cost of tyres servicing etc

Also if second hand look at spec. I was fortunate to come across one with heated seats and tv. Don't use the latter so much but great when in traffic

None. Had a 318ci convertible and the first year was great then a simple issue minor issue caused a massive issue then is was down to the bmw specialist which cost a bomb and looked for independent dealers which were only slightly cheaper, there great when they work but there a bottomless pit when they go wrong!
